  • The R.I.P. Thread

O.K. this is exactly what it sounds like. Between celebrities and personal friends, lately it has seemed like we are dropping like flies.

This is a place to say goodbye and let others know about awesome people we have known or have been affected by.

I'll start it off with one that was mentioned in another thread: Leonard Nimoy. Live long and prosper, Mr. Spock and here's the link to the previous outpouring of felicitations http://www.thepowderblues.com/forum/...ighlight=nimoy

Since that one might be considered "stale", I'll start the personal ball rolling by mentioning my friend Clint. He passed very suddenly in January (still no word about the autopsy-my money is on heart-infarction). Cool dude I knew since 1982. He'd watch anything with you from Japanese cartoons to Pulp Fiction. He was a RPG-er, a LARP-er, and a good friend who would bring you pizza and booze till you puked if you were down. I wish I'd had a chance to say goodbye and thank you, but that's the way life sucks sometimes.

The Great Spirit took one home with him. Thx for everything.

If you want to say goodbye to someone who has passed previously, this isn't time-constrained. I keep seeing stuff with recently deceased actors/popular figures, so go ahead. Crap, last year was pretty awful.

Well...after a long and recurring battle with Lymphoma my Gov't Chief passed a couple of weeks ago at the young age of 50. Good man, who always had the best interests of the 'War Fighter' in mind. He left a wife a 3 kids.

            RIP William Brit Frank

Co-writers of both Walk Away Renee and All Right Now both passed recently.

I remember both of these from the days of transistor radios when I was a kid and still lived in S.D.

              Via con Dios, bros.

EDIT: Oh, and the drummer from Twisted Sister passed recently, too. Wasn't a fan, but who didn't love that video when it came out (especially Neidermeyer) ?

Chuck Bednarik, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and one of the last great two-way NFL players, died early Saturday, the Philadelphia Eagles said. He was 89.

Just saw an obit for him. His nickname was "The Man of Concrete". Wow. That pic kinda says it all.

Also, we lost the oldest living woman US veteran last week, Lucy Coffey. As a fan of military history, not nearly enough attention gets paid to the women who served back then, in my humble opinion.

Holy crap, I didn't even hear about it, but Anita Ekberg passed away this last January.

She was one of my favorite statuesque bombshells of the 50s and 60s. A classic in every way.
