Yeah...he looks like he s playing against high schoolers lol. Some of those guys he hits go flying. I watch Meinerz and he sometimes hits three guys on one play and then if you watch Darrisaw afterwards, you see a statue.

If nobody is near Darrisaw, he will stand there or move very slowly. He does not look for work. I just dont see what pundits see in him to rank him so high. Yes he hits his first block well but the NFL is a lot faster than college.

Im not going to pine for Meinerz in my mocks as some sims have elevated him very high now which not sure he will go that high and wasnt even in the player rankings before, but if we do end up drafting him, id be very happy.

Getting out to the second level is definitely nice to see. But being able to lock in as a blind side protector without any help is by far the most important. And Darrisaw has shown he can do this against a number of really good pass rushers. If we end up with Darrisaw at 13 I’ll be fine with that pick.

Although, last year I cursed and yelled when we drafted Herbert, so maybe that’s how I should react moving forward.

How did Meinerz end up at a DIII school? He’s got real talent and held his own in Senior Bowl practices. I’m very intrigued by him as a prospect, but how do you even grade his game tape with him playing against DIII competition. There are kids in high school more imposing than a lot of his competition. It reminds me of Giannis when he was entering the draft in 2013. On the one hand, he could end up being a helluva steel. On the other hand, he could be a bust, and you’d say, “Oh yeah, remember when we got all excited about that prospect who played against nothing competition?”

But I’d be very pleased to see us land him with our 3rd round comp pick.

Ali Marpet came from Hobart College, played the same position, and the Bucs drafted him in the 2nd round. Ended up being a helluva player. Marpet dominated the combine, so he has that advantage over Meinerz. There will be a lot of eyes on Meinerz at his pro day. If he tests well and shows that he’s coachable, he’ll be off the boards by the end of the 3rd.

It speaks to his explosive athleticism. Doubt Feeney or Lamp can dunk. Lol

Really like him as well. He plays nasty/with an edge, great grip/punch strength, hands are wild though, wide base, and a flexible lower body. I like him right where you have him slotted. Late 2/round 3.

The only player from that draft class that I’m ready to call a bust is Tillery.

I still have hope for Adderley. He was basically a rookie last year coming outta the FCS. Got thrown into the fire and struggled. We’ll see if he recovers.

Pipkins has all the tools and we knew he’d be a considerable project. If he stays healthy and works hard, he may be a starter somewhere in 2024. Shame we had to develop him. Hope Meinerz does better.
