No one is saying Abraham is a LT candidate in the NFL....that is helpful.

Left tackles rise, Right tackles don't.

Most of the tackles drafted early are LT prospects, and the 2nd round guys - Penning/Faalele/Kinnard/Abraham - are all RTs.
That is helpful....it will be a crowded group to winnow out.

I think you are right beachcomber: Abraham will probably be available.
If say Faalele falls to say 2-45 would you trade up to make sure you got him. He's solid but gets beat badly 4-5 times a game. Drafting Faalele automatically means the run game improves.

I'm not a fan of Faalele... so I wouldn't trade up for him. I like Abraham Lucas much better. Lucas fits our outside zone system, too.
I think everyone is freaking out over the RT position right now. If one of the big 3 are there @#17... then take one. But drafting Raimann or Penning @#17 seems desperate. There will be better players there @#17.

If CB Trent McDuffie is there @#17... he'd be my choice.
I like RT Abraham Lucas in the 2nd round. If he were gone by the 2nd round, I'd be happy to get RT Cordell Volson (North Dakota State) in the 3rd round.

      1. CB Trent McDuffie
      2. RT Abraham Lucas
      3. EDGE Boye Mafe

      or

      1. CB Trent McDuffie
      2. EDGE Arnold Ebiketie
      3. RT Cordell Volson

Faalele is a tough evaluation for me. He has more problems in run blocking than pass blocking because he can't get low enough - he'll simply wall people off.
If i remember correctly, some have criticized him for being vulnerable to inside counters in pass protection. I'd have to watch him again, among others:
his mobility is impressive for that gargantuan a size.

I wouldn't trade up because i prefer Abraham Lucas, who i think will be available in the 2nd round.

For me, its Cross (round 1), Lucas (round 2), Rasheed Walker (late round 2 / early round 3), Mitchell/Jones/Burford...... in that order.
The last 3 would compete with Pipkens and probably be the swing option next year.

Raimann and Penning are in between the 1rst & 2nd round Charger choices and i have zero interest in trading up for them.

I saw some pundit at CBS.com mock draft Boye Mafe in the 1rst round......he might not make it to 3.
It would be a solid draft.....and quite grounded and doable.
          I haven't watched Volson.

Ebiketie would be in my 2nd round cluster: Lucas, Jones, Ebiketie,....that would be an embarrassment of riches.
I'd prefer Ebiketie in the 2nd round to Johnson in the 1rst round.... but he might not make it there

That might be true... but I have 16 EDGE rushers with 1-3 round grades on them. I'd think that one of those guys would be there.

            Cordell Volson:

While watching tape on A. Booth , I noticed this Mario Goodrich, the other CB from Clemson. I'm thinking he might be a Day 3 steal. Anyone have any thoughts?

                      Love Goodrich,

He's got the ability to be as good or better than Booth. IMHO

have seen him slotted for round four ??

am thinkin' more like round six would be preferable, 'specially w/two picks that go 'round.

Goodrich will probably run a sub 4.4 40 and shoot up to the 2nd-3rd round: happens every draft.
