This is why you draft Trevor Penning then you can start addressing the CB, DT, LB, DE, RB position in the next rounds and FA... Trevor Penning could solidify our OL... However if a stellar probowl potential CB, DT, LB, WR or DE falls to pick 17 you fix the RT position later.

They were also sort of thinking that Bulaga might get healthy by seasons start.

      The plan might be to let Feiler and Pipkens battle for RT;
and if Pip unexpectedly wins, stick Feiler back at LG.

You would need to focus on guards and not tackles in free agency/ draft

Lone Bolt, You got Green for OT at the NFL level? I see him strictly as a certified NFL starter at G. Above average movement running forward but lateral movement to mirror elite pass rushers? Hey if it works then I'm not complaining.

        Edit: Tillery to RT LOL

I do think Green can play RT. He has played well at all positions, save center. If down the road, a better RT solution presents itself, or Pip looks really good, you can put him at RG, where I agree he would thrive. Or if, god forbid, we suffered a long term injury at one of the guard spots, you kick him inside and then use Pip or Storm.

My point being, not only can he play OT, he can play almost anywhere...and that kinda value is under appreciated...in the end, a boring, very safe...but very high quality add to our team.
          Lone Bolt's Final Mock

Tyler Booker G, Josaiah Stewart Edge, Cam Skattebo RB, Mitchell Evans TE, Jamaree Caldwell NT, Isaac TeSlaa WR, Ahmed Hassanein DE, Craig Woodson S, Eli Cox C, Kalel Mullings RB

Sleeper day 3 pick: Tahj Brooks RB Texas Tech

I say we nab Green regardless. If TT agrees with you saying he's a RT we better have a fail safe contingency plan at RT. That said I would not mind getting a "smallish" RT with good movement skills (former TE or DE that bulked up, ect). We had no answer for speed on the RT position. Defenses knew this and exposed it many times over with success. It was further exacerbated when defenses failed to get past our pro-bowl LT.....deploy resources to attacking that right side.

If Feiler can play RT, Green sure as hell can and @ a higher level.

That is kind of true but very misleading as well. The only way that statement holds up is if Bulaga wasn’t all banged up and would have played and then yes we would’ve had the best RT available on the team on the field. But he couldn’t play, everyone knew Bulaga’s history, it was widely reported, and we all saw it first hand on the field in 2020. You didn’t have to be a coach or a GM to predict that Bryan was not to be counted on in 2021. Feiler’s experience at RT is one of the reasons I was so excited about his signing last year. I assumed the organization was hedging it’s bets on Bulaga. And then when it became apparent that Bryan wouldn’t be back they failed to move Matt over and this is the part that gets me a bit. Slater had already proven he didn’t need babysitting on the left side. They had an opportunity to stabilize both tackle positions after they had stabilized the interior with Linsley and they chose not to. They got away with it a few times against teams lacking a competent pass rush but when it mattered most Herbert got beat up bad. I honestly don’t know how Herbert finished the Raider game, he went down weird a couple times with lower leg hits from Raider defenders. The 3 most difficult spots on any offensive line are already solved on the Chargers, LT, C, and RT, we have the right people already and we have depth with pipkins and potentially a mid round developmental tackle or by resigning Schofield whom also can play RT if needed. IMO it’s a lot cheaper and easier to fill that LG spot either in FA or by promoting Jaimes. Feiler is a better RT than LG, short DTs gave him fits inside all year long. It’s about leverage inside and he’s over 6’6” tall. Feiler has almost two full years of RT play (26 games) and two full seasons at LG starting experience in the NFL and his PFF grades show he is better suited to play outside. He improved from a 71 grade his first 10 games at RT to a 76 grade in his next 16 games and I think he would’ve continued improving if they had left him outside in Pittsburg.

Moving Feiler to RT now should be a no brainer, you eliminate one of the teams biggest weaknesses on OL and the hole created at LG is IMO both easier and less expensive to fill. It gives the team more bang for their dollar. It also allows the team to focus draft capital and salary cap where it’s needed most, defense. I don’t want to see the team invest another high draft pick at OL when the defense needs to be upgrade so badly.

I'm leaning "no" on Kenyon Green. Here's why:

                  1) I'd leave Feiler @LG. He played at a high level there... 74.0 PFF grade.
                  2) It's hard for me to spend #17 on a guard. You can say Green can play all positions. But in reality, he has 142 snaps @RT (Kent State and Colorado). That's not enough snaps for a true evaluation IMO.
                  3) #17 needs to be spent on a premium position (CB, OT, or EDGE). Charles Cross, Trent McDuffie, Jermaine Johnson... those guys will be bigger impact players.
                  4) You can find a really good RT in the 2nd round. Abraham Lucas had an 89.9 PFF pass blocking score (0 sacks) this last year.

                  Imagine:

                  Slater: 83.6
                  Feiler: 74.0
                  Linsley: 85.7
                  Aboushi: 68.2
                  Lucas: 78.6

                  Protect the QB
                  Run the ball
                  Play great defense

                    Lucas: 78.6

Getting Green means a decent probability you'll get at 80 guy at LG at the NFLlevel. Essentially two 80 guys in their early 20's on rookie contracts. Your next step long term wise is to find a young center. If you double dip and get RT Lucas in round 2......

                    Slater: 83.6
                    Feiler: 74.0
                    Linsley: 85.7
                    Green: 80+
                    Lucas: 78.6+

We can then focus our resources (money, draft, FA) on getting defensive pieces therafter.

If slater is at Left Tackle what do you have Green at Right Tackle and say we will get an 80 plus guy at Left Guard?

I'd rather have the 89.5 graded CB Trent McDuffie.
