I figure Staley would try to salvage JT while he’s here for relatively cheap to see if there’s a role for him in his D. I’m less ambitious for JT than you but believe me, I’m probably his biggest fan left here so I’m hoping to see him find a bigger and more effective role in the middle.
I might be wrong but I thought Staley’s 4i was a single gap penetrating role, at least most of the time. I figure he would fit there by beating tackles on the inside
doesnt have the bend to live outside and doesn’t have the ass to stay inside, not consistently at least.
Ultimately I think he was drafted as an interior passrusher and if I’m understanding you right, that’s how he will likely be used?
if so, where is he in base formation?
Traditionally, even alignments are always 2 gap techniques. You line the DL up in front of the OL so they cannot get past and block the LB or DB.
And why would you line up directly across from a player if you intend to get into a gap?
The whole point of the tite alignments is to align the DL in the position to take on the blockers and keep the LB free to run to the ball.
I am not sure what you mean by not having the bend?
As far as Rousseau goes, I think he has sloppy technique and hand use. And he needs to get a better jump on the snap. For a long guy with such great leverage, he doesn't use his hands as well as he could. If he puts on some weight, he could be a big time inside guy, but he might be a better fit, since he is more athletic than most 6'7" guys are, and his change of direction and movement is space if like that of a much smaller player.

3. SF: Justin Fields
Could go Jones, but coach loves Fields’ athleticism. Could go Lance, but Fields is more NFL ready.
4. [Trade] ATL—> DAL: Kyle Pitts
Jerry Jones wants Pitts, and at 78 years old, Jerry gets what Jerry wants. Or else your fired. Cowboys management obeys the law of Jerry. They trade #10, a 2022 1st, and a 2021 3rd to make it happen.
5. CIN: Ja’Marr Chase
Bengals make Burrows happy and address the OL in the 2nd & 3rd.
6. [Trade] MIA—> DEN: Mac Jones
Phins were targeting Pitts or Chase but the Cowboys blew up their plans. They activate the emergency contingency and trade back again. DEN parts with #9 and a 2022 2nd to grab Lock’s replacement.
7. [Trade] DET—> LAC: Penei Sewell
This is a tough spot and LAC has to bid against a few teams looking for that last QB. Chargers have to slightly overpay to get their guy. DET is in rebuild mode and they want a 2022 1st. LAC acquiesces and gives up #13 and a 2022 1st to get their LT for the next decade.
8. CAR: Rashawn Slater
Panthers are a little butt-hurt to come so close in the Sewell sweepstakes only to get ousted at the last minute. They grab Slater as their consolation prize.
9. [Trade] MIA—> NE: Trey Lance
What, the Dolphins trade AGAIN? Yes sir. They fleece the Pats for #15 and a 2022 1st. Pats grab the last QB and let him develop under Cam for a year.
10. ATL: Jaycee Horn
Falcons address their dismal defense and grab a local talent with a higher upside than Surtain.
11. NYG: Patrick Surtain
Giants are happy. They’ve got Surtain as CB1.
12. PHIL: Jaylen Waddle
Philly loves those slippery WRs.
13. DET: Kwity Paye
Lions get a local product and the best pass rusher in the class. Instant upgrade to one of 2020’s worst defenses.
14. MIN: Christian Darrisaw
Vikings replace Reiff and grab a bulldozer for the run game. Dalvin Cook goes for 2,000+ yards in 2022.
15. MIA: Micah Parsons
What a journey. The Dolphins are smiling like Cheshire cats. After all those trades they still land a top 10 talent. They’ll target Devonta Smith or Bateman at #18.
