That's a whole lot of dead wood that needs to be cleared out.
Add TT to the dead wood list.

If its a play where Mahomes has the potential to scramble, like 3rd and 15, I don't want linebackers on the field anyway. Put in the faster, more nimble DBs.

Seriously, I'd like to see DCs invent more schemes without linebackers.. They're dinosaurs.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

This is why I mention Nakobe.
Dax Hill in round 1 ought to be considered.

BTW Simmons is coming on in AZ. Then there's Roquan, Fred Warner, White in TB.

            Oregon vs Utah tonite.
            For the whole salami.

A crazy question, but how many great, 3 down LBs are there in football?

Utah crushed the Ducks a couple of weeks ago. Can they turn that around in such a short time? I hope so - I'm a Ducks fan. My neighbor has a Ducks flag he flies on game days. We're ready here in Salem!

                    Some more "Big name" LBs

Vander Esch, however, looks nothing like the player who as a rookie showed so much promise that he was projected to be a Pro Bowl linebacker multiple times.

But against the Saints, he showed why the Cowboys did not pick up the option on fifth-year from his original rookie contract.

The Wolf Hunter now looks like a pup.

He looked lost, and he continued the trend of being on the field and not making plays. He’s not at the point of attack, and he is late to plays.

LVE is coming off consecutive seasons where he sustained major injuries, and he looks like a player who fears having to deal with another one. Either that, or he’s just no longer the same guy as a result of those injuries and surgeries.

LVE has started every game but one this season, in Week 1, and he has one sack and four tackles for losses.

He’s only 25, and this just may be it.

Considering the type of injuries he’s sustained it may be too much to ask a player to return to the previous level of production. An injured neck in football is no joke.

The Cowboys have already cut one of their starting linebackers, Jaylon Smith, this season and they are not going to dump another one this late. But the more LVE plays, the more it looks like his future with the Cowboys will end after the season.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

To me, you are making a big point, F21.
The NFL is moving in the direction of somewhat positionless defenders.
That said, AZ did draft Isaiah Simmons and Zaven Collins high in the past two drafts.
These are two distinctly different LBs for sure.
We do not play modern football.

A couple season ago, didn't injury force Chargers to basically go without Linebackers and had Adrian Philips playing LB role in the nickel. And it worked well to shut down the Ravens RPOs and a mobile QB in playoffs. But then failed badly the next game vs a traditional power heavy run team and a pocket passer.
Who has it better than us?

Devin Lloyd, LB Utah had a nice pick-6...looks like a decent coverage LB...might be a good mid round value...
Noah Sewell, Oregon, Penei's kid bro, a real thumper of a LB...still a freshman...
