Not sure I want to be persistent and hang my hat on this, but there will be outlier picks to consider.

There will be players who are not at all PON or perfect fits for us,fyet still scream value.

McShay does have Nakobe as top 10,
and there is Linderbaum, who may be an Outside Zone Guard.

Besides, this early, it is good to be obtuse, and turn over ALL the rocks.

I just read that Bama WR John Metchie tore his ACL against Georgia.

Am I late knowing this? First I've heard of it. Will this drop his draft stock? May be a bargain round 4? Possible?

Every year around draft time Brandon Thorn gets all bent about NFL scouts wanting OL prospects to switch positions at the next level. Sure it works sometimes, but it adds a layer of uncertainty.

Do I think Linderbaum could switch to guard? Sure, I guess. But I know dog shit compared to Thorn.

If he makes a full recovery, then yeah Metchie would be excellent value in the 4th. But he may also stay at Bama for another year. Also, I’m not sure he’s a “blow the top off” kind of receiver at the next level. He’s more of a crisp route runner, possession kinda guy. He seems to have at least sub-4.5 speed, but we’ll never know if he comes out this year.

Speed is great but it isn't everything and sub 4.5 ain't bad at all.

            Consider these combine numbers :

            Player 1

            4.56 /40
            1.64 / 10 yard split
            vert/39.5"
            3 cone/6.82

            Player 2

            4.31/ 40
            1.57/ 10 yard split
            Vert 38"
            3 cone / 6.96

            Player 1 is Davonte Adams

            Player 2 is Travis Benjamin

            just sayin

Kiper's brand new pre bowl season rankings has Lloyd Top 10
              and Nakobe at 12.

Once again Penning is considered a solid round one prospect, casting further doubts re level of competition.

PFF says McDuffie is a perfect fit for us at CB.

Yeah, it’s true. Ball skills and route running matter and Davonte has both, plus he’s one of the best at getting a clean release.

Metchie is an incredibly well-rounded receiver and he’d be a steal in the 4th. We’ll have to wait and see. If I were him I’d tear it up again with Saban and Young. The deadline to declare for the draft isn’t till Jan. 18th I think.

For now I’d give the advantage to Lloyd because he has prototypical NFL size, he’s better in coverage, and he’s surrounded by less talent. But, as always, I’m reserving final judgement until I get all the information—pro days, combine, etc.

McDuffie is an inside/outside burner with tremendous tackling ability. He’s solid in man and zone. He’s not flashy, but he’s a guy that will quietly bring your defense to the next level.

Penning’s value is being helped (and legitimized) by the solid plug-and-play ability showcased by Spencer Brown, who most scouts believe is a lesser talent than Penning.

I think there’s a high likelihood that both players (and several other comparable talents) will be available when the Chargers pick. It may come down to what TT believes is the greater need, or who’s more likely to gel with the team philosophy.

Just did this three round simulator adding serious beef to this Charger roster. Picks as they fell, IDT, Jordan Davis, 6-6 340 RB1, Breece Hall, 6-1 220 RT, Daniel Faalele, 6-9 380.

Love it You got the 2 extra larges in the draft
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

While I do like the RB beef, I cannot see spending a 2nd rounder on a RB. I would rather drop in a CB, edge or even a WR there over RB.

Depends on FA'cy so its hard to know what we shouldn't do right now. We could sign a CB and draft one. I expect a DT and draft one. WR depends on MW.

I have to think we will be pretty active in FA'cy. Our most active in years.
