While I do like the RB beef, I cannot see spending a 2nd rounder on a RB. I would rather drop in a CB, edge or even a WR there over RB.

We need to balance Eck in the worst way he is wearing down. Austin needs a true complimentary back to share the load. RB’s are best, fresh out of the gate, elite can compete, day one! Use Staley’s league knowledge to dredge up competent DB’s. WR’s we have a plenty, but only one RB is pitiful. Throw in some meat on the right side, boom there it is…..

I think It’s a good matchup and a chance to win. Much better than playing an Ohio State type team.

I am a Ute season ticket holder (yes, I was at the Pac 12 'ship in Vegas last week and yes I have my Rose Bowl tix) and have watched every game Devin Lloyd has played in his college career.

The kid is special. No homer talk here. Lloyd is a leader beyond his years and he just flat out makes plays. We have seen it for a while and now the rest of the country is getting the chance. Lloyd came back this year just to help the Utes make a run at that Rose Bowl (had a 3rd to 4th rd grade last year) because they felt they had unfinished business. If you knew what this team has been through this year (the death of two teammates, one after a game), Lloyd's leadership was a huge part of this run.

Look up the "22% better" and the "Moment of Loudness" to fully appreciate what the Utes have been through. This fan base is unbelievably proud of this team, can't wait to see them play on the Rose Bowl's huge stage. You just can't underestimate how much the team leadership is responsible for this and that all starts with Lloyd.

Anyway, IMO Lloyd is the perfect fit in Staley's hybrid dependent defense. Mid-first round pick and we will all be happy for years.

BTW-this is not the same team that lost in 3 OT to SDSU earlier this year. Not even close, the team is vastly different in personnel, schemes, and attitude. SDSU did win the game for sure, but I have feeling it would be different if played today. (Excuse me while I duck under the table now!)

I'm a Ducks fan but I appreciate a good player and I agree with you regarding Lloyd. He's an all over the field LB. Sure to be a first round pick. The Utah DL smothered the Ducks. THe Ducks depend on their running game and the Utah DL as so dominant that the /ducks never had a running game - Utah's the only team that was able to stop the Ducks from running. Hat's off to that front seven.

The guy has really nice footwork and a smooth backpedal - albeit against low level competition.
Looks strong.

Have no idea about his punch or handwork; he really doesn't need it, beating these guys just with his size, strength & positioning.

think we already got our RT & RG in FA w/Aboushi and Feiler.... personally am lookin' LG in the draft, unless bowled over by someone who falls in our lap.

and as mentioned before, and pretty much regardless of position, we need to sign good value FAs for any and all positions where we deem said FA as making a good Charger.

Yeah, the dude moves exceptionally well for a 6’7, 320 pounder. Better than Spencer Brown, who’s about the same size.

Plus, Penning’s tenacity is an intangible that can only help. He’d be a solid pick.

Agree, don't know why they would move Feiler to RT when he is excelling at LG. I don't think they would move him there if Norton went down. They would put Pipkins there.

I would want a quality versatile CB.
One who can blitz and play several roles, to disguise coverages.
Then a second, developmental CB.
Maybe woth Gunner or Return skills.
I am sure this is what you scouts are after too.
Many possibilities.

Kid reminds me of a faster Troy Brown. He does it all, CB/KR/PR, even plays a little WR.
