As far as I'm concerned we had crapola for defense last season. We had maybe 6 good players and often times it dropped to 4 good players on the field due to injuries. Staley gets a pass because we didn't have the players last season so our best defense was keeping our offense on the field. I'm on to next season already.

Part of that is coverage on our wr part is pass protection and part a combo of both. A good defence will be able to blanket Allen and Williams leaving Guyton are Palmer or a TE or Eklers to be depended on. Of the options not named Allen Williams or Ekeler who do you trust?
We were pretty damn good on 3rd down as well. One of the best, if not the best. The issues last year were more related to 1st and 2nd downs.

I finished watching the east-west shrine game and I really really like ja’sir taylor! He could be an early contributor on defense. the kid is like a clone of asante samuel. Very polished and ready to contribute. He plays with a high football IQ, never out of position, he’s not going to decleat anyone but his tackling is textbook perfect and gets his guy on the ground or out of bounds everytime. He’s a very sure tackler, he also has STs value as a kick returner. I think he’s a slot corner. he diagnoses plays quickly and with no hesitation, he’s a PBU machine. He needs to clean up his aggressiveness and has been flagged for defensive holding a bit while at WF. He uses his speed well and at the shrine bowl that speed really showed up on the field.

the UDRFA brandon sebastion was also in that game, the had him play outside most of the game and I noticed that the offense didn’t throw the ball to hos side but 2-3 times. On one occasion he broke up a fade in the endzone. He had a couple of snaps at FS and he almost picked off the only pass thrown in his area, the WR made a fantastic play to keep him from picking it off. He’s 6’1” and long but went undrafted after running a 4.59 in indy which was not good for a CB. He plays faster than his 40 time, he looks good outside but he might end up playing at safety if he sticks in the NFL. He impressed at the east-west shrine game on special teams they played him at gunner position and he was around the ball every time almost getting a pair of tackles but the runner ran to the other side away from him both times and got hit by someone else. To me it looked like he was playing on a bad wheel. He was heavily favoring his right foot between plays. This might explain why his combine speed wasn’t so good, but IDK. He also looks like a smart player plays smart and with discipline.

zander horvath played well on STs at the east-west shrine game, he had to bad plays early whiffing on blocks badly and didn’t really see the field again on offense after that. IDK about this pick, he might be PS material…

leaddie brown only got 4 carries in the game, his best carry was impressive he got 12 yards on a counter play set up his blocks perfectly and pushed thru a bunch of arm tackles to gain 10 yards after initial contact. He timed 4.71 at the combine, former 4 star looks smooth polished runner won’t be losing yards, downhill runner and runs angry. I hope he can pass block and catch the ball…

Doesn't sound like Telesco was real thrilled with the way the draft fell for the Chargers.

Wonder if they really wanted a few players that went right before us like the 'Turds nabbing Z.White.

His comment makes it seem that way, that the players he and Staley most wanted didn't fall to them.

What do you expect when we only have two picks inside the top 96? Everyone else wheeled and dealed and the Chargers stayed put. I'm gonna be positive and think we got some DB sleeper picks in the later rounds and maybe a better than expected Running back in the 4th. We done good in the off season so lets go with that!

                    22. Brandon Staley, Los Angeles Chargers

Win probability sacrificed on fourth-down errors: 61.9% (Rank: 32)*
Yep...a lot of us were ticked at Staley for gambling too much...okay to go for it on 4th down depending on the circumstance, but NEVER in your own territory unless yer trailing and it's late in the 4th quarter...

TT said that about the 4rth round specifically, I think they might've been targeting a clister of guys that went within 10 picks right before where they picked at 123, some good corners, safeties, faalele, max mitchel uwazurike the NT, who knows which guy they wanted maybe coby byrant? IDK, but he almost seemed disapointed that they picked spiller

Our defense sucked that bad last year. I don't think Staley goes for it on fourth down unless we're around the 50 yard line this season.
