I too think this thread, poll or not, is way too early. We already have a Draft forum for those who are so inclined, as well as a draft super thread.

Green is an experienced starter that has played multiple positions along the offensive line...every position but center. Green has natural functional strength that he uses to become a true road grader in the run game. Offensive coordinators will find it beneficial to call run plays that follow behind Green's path. As a pass protector, Green possesses quickness that he uses to mirror defenders and become a dominant interior pass protector. Green is a versatile offensive lineman that has amassed a ton of experience throughout his career. Green has the athleticism and physical temperament to become an instant starter and a future All-Pro offensive lineman.

Ideal Role: Green can play both guard positions and RT"

He may be able to but don't mean he will be good at it in the NFL. Leatherwood quickly found he wasn't.

In any case, TDN write-ups are from before the season started. They are far behind.

Green is an option but for me as well but we have FA that will depend on what we do. He is on the bottom of my list til then.

So here we are now posting on another thread about pick 17 .... with a sketchy poll option, instead of the other one.
        1. Mason Taylor TE LSU
        2. Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio st
        3. Kyle Kennard Edge So. Carolina

        4. CJ West DT Indiana
        5. Don'te Thornton WR Tennessee
        6. Zah Frazier CB UTSA

        6. Jay Higgins LB Iowa

Watch some tape on this kid...he is a hunter...always looking to dominate somebody...and reportedly high football IQ and character. A very good, very safe selection.

To be honest, I like a lot of different options at 17...the edge class alone is crazy good...Im just stumping for this kid as an alternate, interesting, and viable option for us in the first. My mindset could likely change after our additions and losses in free agency. But for now, I think Green is worth consideration.
Thanks, I knew you would have some common sense answer for me. Now you piqued my interest in Green and I'll spend some time learning more about him.

I spent much of my afternoon checking Green out and I see what you like about him. He's really good at pass blocking, well above average. Needs work at run blocking though, he's somewhat inconsistent at run blocking. Overall, I like him and won't be upset at all if lands with the Bolts.

Ideally, some team will be desperate for a QB who shows out at the Underwear Olympics and offers us more draft assets( 1's,2's or 3's)

is the top priority a LBer though? our IDL was so atrocious. I dont follow college football at all so dont know squat about it, but IMO our more pressing need is IDL, not LB. But that's just me who knows close to nothing.

If one of the top IDL is there at #17, I agree we should probably pull the trigger...upgrade RT in FA or round 2...
                    22 - TE Mason Taylor
                    55 - RB Quinshon Judkins
                    86 - DL Josiah Stewart
                    125 - G Dylan Fairchild
                    158 - C Jake Majors
                    181 - WR Donte Thornton

No but sometimes its hard to pass on BPA. IMO a IDL isnt BPA as they need developing and arent great year 1. Why i think we go FA's there instead of a top pick. Jordon Davis doesnt excite me @ 17.

BAsed on the mocks I have seen, RT and CB make sense at 17 and not IDL. Like Jolt, I think they go IDL in free agency and the more I read and hear about Jordan Davis, I would rather have Phidarian M from Bama in R2

None of us know what position will be most needed when the draft comes. We have enough cap space to fill at least three of our needs from the FA's. When we find out what needs are filled at the time of the draft we can make some good guesses about the draft. Right now, we are just talking about the draft in broad terms.

As for the need at DL, it sure is a real need but ask yourself this - what DL can you name that makes more stops than the LBers? The DL needs to occupy the OL so the LB's can step up and stop the run. Devin Lloyd would be a great addition to our defense if we land a good DL during the FA period.

Right now the need for a LB is probably about number four on the list but suppose we use FA's to fill the other needs and meanwhile White signs elsewhere.
