You look back at Baker Mayfield, Darnold and Allen and Lamar.
Josh Allen was the highest upside. Jackson the most dynamic. They went 3rd and 4th and have played at MVP levels. Mayfield and Darnold are on their 3rd teams.

Watson, Mahomes with highest upside. Mitchell went first.

There is a big case to be made to go with the upside and talent at QB if there is no sure fire can't miss QB prospect.

The more I think about it, the less likely we take Mayer in Round 1.
We have zero speed on offense and Mayer just feeds into that plodding style.

He'll be operating in a crowded area with KA / Palmer / Everett.
Decent blocker, decent pass catcher.
Probably a great locker room guy.

Telesco threw a bone to Lombo with McKittycat - a 2nd 3rd rounder.
The explanation was that Lombo's O needed that inline run blocker.
Using a 1rst rounder is entirely different.

I'd prefer drafting Hyatt a bit early than Mayer.

It's probably the best mock I have seen.
The edge position would be next year's draft.

I could live with this draft. I would also mention there could be other safeties I could live with from Illinois for the 85th pick. With the 89th pick I could also live with To'o To'o from alabama. I'm also a big fan of Jayir Brown from Penn state. I've never seen a guy such a nose for the football. If he ran a 4.5 40 he'd be a top 45 pick.
