2024 Chargers Draft Superthread - Prospect Discussion - Draft Has Started

I see a lot of blanket statements being made.
Don't forget it is early.
We will be thrown into the cement mixer. What must come out is a solid foundation.

Way too much is unknown.

Regarding OLT and value, I still like Joe Alt a lot. This is a clean, can't miss prospect. What is missed is that Alt is a ++ run blocker. Detroit does not regret in the slightest drafting Penei Sewell, with Taylor Decker already there, and having many other PON's at the time.

Regarding Bowers and TE, there is lots of talk about LaPorta. Well, before drafting LaPorta, Detroit deftly traded away #8 overall pick Hockenson. He is expensive now and he is hurt. I vote for a mid round Inline TE, maybe Sinnott

We need a LB and the only ones worth a shit require a round 2 investment.

The UFA market will be a big buyers market. There are no Jamyr's, Mostert's or Achane's here. Wait 'til late to draft a running back.

Knowing the landscape leads to smart personnel takes. We all fall in love with particular great looking impact players. I even see pundits saying today we have to draft a CB with our early pick. No we don't.

I wouldn't be mad if we drafted Alt. Commitment to the franchise player.
How many 1st round TE's made it to their 5th-year option...? Not many. Maybe none.

To your point... will your 2nd round LB's be BPA at that draft slot. BPA the whole draft... the PON is endless this time.
We don't HAVE to draft a CB. But if he's BPA... you do it. Right now, we got ASJ. That's it. Nada mas. NFL has cloning laws... somewhere.
We are 31st in the NFL at defending the pass.

You can really make the case wither way as this team has a few needs.

You are not wrong, but nor are those who want better support around the best asset in the franchise, the QB . Herbert is not progressing as he should be with his talent. He needs better more dynamic weapons and he needs better protection as he has been taking a beating and now has 3 injuries in the last 2 seasons.

Herbert needs more time in the pocket when he drops back! With bookend OT's everything else can be dealt with!

If you know who becomes our next HC you have to know he's going to address the running game big-time because he likes to establish everything on being able to run the ball! In the 2nd round Trey Benson could be a first step solution towards that!

Some of the takes on this guy's site are ridiculous! I like how he states in the absolute as what we will and will not do in the draft and we haven't even hired our next GM & HC yet?!

If we don't draft one of the top OT's I really like OT Jordan Morgan in the 2nd or 3rd! Also OC Powers-Johnson!
