Historically, we have lost every draft pick trade I can think of.
Then we followed that up with Drew Brees in the 2nd round.
That was pretty good.Protect the QB

Traded Sheli (back) and got Rivers, Kaeding, and Merriman.
Pretty sure they traded up to Natrone Means.
Weddle was a trade up.
Leslie O'Neil was a trade up.
Gil Byrd was a trade up.
Kellen Winslow... trade up.

Natron Means, one of Bethard’s horrible 1st for a second trades.
weddle a trade up in the 2nd. The other 3 were not traded draft picks.
The Weddle trade worked, the others weren’t draft pick trades. Again, IIRC.Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

Playoff winners/losers (scoring offense/scoring defense)
Winners:
KC (15/2)
Buf (6/4)
TB (19/5)
GB (8/12)
Hou (10/11)
Det (5/23)
Losers:
Dallas (1/9)
Mia (4/22)
Phi (7/30)
LAR (9/18)
Cle (13/21)
Pit (28/8)
Pre-Justin Herbert + Keenan Allen injury.... the Chargers were #8 in scoring offense (even without MW) but were 23rd scoring defense. The only playoff winning team same/worse than the Chargers scoring defense were the Lions (tied @23rd). Dolphins were the 22nd scoring defense (lost) and the Eagles were the 20th scoring defense (lost).
The #1,2,3 scoring offenses at the time were Dallas, Miami, and Philly (all gone). The Eagles would go onto lose most of their games at the end of the season and ended up the NFL's 30th scoring defense.
Eagles would go on to lose 32-9 to the league's 19th best scoring offense (Bucs).

Any team without a top scoring O is seriously bucking the odds.
Based solely on best 2023 reg season scoring O:
Bal (6), SF(2), Det (3), Buf (4) win their next playoff games.Last edited by sonorajim; 01-18-2024, 05:46 PM.

I cannot recall a good trade up, I remember many of those. Trading up is desperation, fear, lack of confidence and belief. you forgot Te’o, a guy way too too slow for the NFL that got completely destroyed and exposed in the Natty game, never mind his weird imaginary GF saga. and then there’s my personal all time favorite chargering trade-up, Jacob Fucking Hester. They traded up for Jacob Hester, smfh!
holy shit - you guys got me to use the term chargering. Fuck, i gotta get out of here!“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”
