Beats me but not the Chargers. You don’t spend a high(er) draft pick on a QB that possibly could start when you have a Top 5 QB just at the beginning of his prime on a $250M contract. Nothing good can come from that, you either have a disgruntled draft pick relegated to clipboard career or you got a QB controversy. Backup needs to be able to go in in emergency, but he also needs to clearly be the backup.

Oh I wasn't assuming that it would be the Chargers for reasons you mentioned. It makes no sense. I think he might be the dark horse in the draft that a team could trade up in the top 5-10 to draft. Or hell maybe Harbaugh could be right, and he could be the 1st qb taken after the combine and interviews.

Good question. Here's another: Which GM is on the hot seat and is so desperate he's willing to reach for McCarthy, hoping he pays dividends enough for that GM to keep his job? Who knows? Maybe McCarthy turns out to be a pretty solid QB...Mel Kiper has him ranked ahead of Penix and Nix:

I would even say that either a team really needs are Center or they don't need one at all.

There are several here, and even the late rounders are interesting.

I'll take a burrito although I don't know how well it will travel in the mail....lol. Yeah I'm not trading the #5 without a 2nd and 3rd this year at a minimum. If not don't bother calling.
