I would say Jaylen Wright is our Ekeler replacement and Estime, Allen or maybe Benson is our bell cow! Harbaugh's run game is too important to bypass the premium RB's in this draft either way!

And I’d propose taking him late where most players don’t work out anyway. He is not a complete back, he’s a running down thumper.
I'm not knocking him. Maybe as a UDFA and I get you aren't peopsing a mid rounder on him,...but there was some very bad tackling there where three guys just flat miss him and some big holes.

I wouldn't call him a thumper. He wasn't putting to guys as much as they just can't tackle. He's no Zach Zenner if you remember him from that school who had two, 2000 yards rushing season.

Idk...just to me it wasn't that impressive and that's his highlights. If highlights don't impress, his condensed game tape sure won't.

Works for me. Bucky is a more polished receiver but Wright can run a bit tougher. Both are wicked fast with breakaway speed.

Benson is really good - but does he run too upright? Eh, Im probably imagining things.

I think Wright can be Ekelers replacement with more size and a lot more speed. So can Brooks.

Say the rankings for WR are like this
MHJr: 82; Nabers: 76.7; Odunze: 75.8, throw in Bowers too at 76.3
thats a pretty darn big gap

But what if the gap is 77.3, 76.7, 76.3 and 75.8 - gap is closer

I think they are going to need to be blown away to pass on a top 5 pick - and if you exclude 2 or 3 QBs, it might actually be a top 3 player on your board
            6.83 Harrison
            6.74 Odunze
            6.84 Nabers

6.75 Bowers * personal suspicion is that 'tis more likely that the both of MHJ & Odunze are off the board, leaving Nabers of the three

            6.48 Fuaga
6.49 Alt * pretty evenly rated, and so pretty much who do you like.... of their intangibles/run blocking
            6.50 Fashanu

            6.70 Verse * legit/viable trade down target

6.40 Kool Aid * personally like Arnold's intangibles over KA's, and hard to believe McKinstry ain't the better get, but apparently it's close
            6.49 Arnold

6.48 Murphy * 's Law, still hard to pass up, and s'posed to be off the board by eleven.... select @5 or hope for a trade down ??
6.50 Latu * personal fave on the edge, and not sure that's a consensus opinion, when looking @Jared's score
            6.50 Turner

            6.46 Barton
            6.41 Fautanu
6.34 JPJ * dude seems to be the crowd fave, albeit some wonder if he's being overdrafte/valued ?? and personally wonder the same of Graham

6.39 Brian Thomas * nah, as just like Bowers or Nabers or the like.... more Chargers football and not so much SB driven
6.39 Darius Robinson * may be worth a go @37, but still not sold on over the likes of a NT there

Zierlein has no Pro Bowlers nor All Pros in his ratings....

first year starters include Nabers, MHJ, Bowers and Odunze, and w/Verse barely making the grade

boom or busters include Fashanu, Latu and Dallas Turner

will be good starter within two years (doesn't mean they won't start right away, just not so good right outta the gate ?) include the likes of Alt, Arnold, Byron Murphy, Fuaga, Barton, Fautanu and Kool Aid

the others listed above are put in as will eventually be plus starter, which again doesn't mean they won't start right away, albeit just might not be plug 'n play in the vintage sense

so if we're goin' pass catcher @5, am a little disappointed as it smaks some of being Matt Millenesque, and in that we've already drafted two MW hedges/replacements, and of which Harrison/Odunze would be a third, and.... still suspect that going pass catcher does not move the needle so much toward being a SB team ??

Nabers is attractive in that of the three he seems the most suited to replace what we will eventually lose w/Keenan, and he can play in the slot between QJ 'n Palmer, which is a plus in my book, and.... he perpetuates Charger football by drafting yet another wideout.... questionable me thinx ??

and we have never really replaced HH, and so BB has merit in that vein, and there is a dearth of talent there, @least in terms of not having a top ten talent @the position, albeit am more than ok w/signing Henry in FA and drafting a Ben Sinnott in the draft, and adding them to Parham and Vannett.... adequate for now, and allows us to build more of SB roster ??

and there is a gap, score/points wise between the pass catchers and the OTs, and.... not significant enough, and not to mention Cynthia Fredlund's sentiment that Alt (or OTs in general) add more to the win column, and so just like w/Bowers, am not in love w/either his nor Alt's intangibles, and so again thinkin' 'tis more a matter of selecting the guy you like as a Charger (i.e. eye prefer Fuaga's intangibles of the three OTs), instead of getting caught up/splitting hairs as who is the higher rated prospect, and as personally think that they are most all rated high enough for consideration, and.... take your chances or not by trading down.

the two CBs and Verse seem like safe enough gambits if like Nutty you are sold on their value early in the first.... personally am not, altho do like Verse some, and given that Zierlein has the both of Dallas Turner and Latu as boom or busts, which is perhaps an unnecessary risk to take, unless you are very, very certain of their talent/ability to translate their game to the NFL.

and personally gonna draw the line @the IOL, as think Zierlein has Barton overvalued, and conversely and btw, think he's got Kool Aid undervalued.... ?? if we go IOL, prefer a day two gambit, or better yet going Connor Williams in FA.

based on intangibles, my guys are Fuaga and Latu, and also like Arnold and Verse some, and....

not overly enamored w/the intangibles of the either of Byron Murphy or Jer'Zhan, but can't get away from the idea of getting a properly disruptive DT.

that said it would be hard to complain much 'bout the top dozen or so listed above, as starting w/Dallas Turner and down below him is where I lose interest in the prospects there for round one, and as prolly prefer the likes of a Bralen Trice or Jer'Zhan if the either of 'em are still on the board.... and yes, ahead of Bowers for the BB die hards.

There's a lot of good talent on this year's squad. But Isaiah has the highest ceiling I think.

Greenfield started at RT before moving to LT, so he's played both. And he was a monster.
All America the past two years. Great player. The OG next to him, Mason McCormick is also worthy of a look.
Brugler's latest Top 100 from two days ago has Mason McCormick OG @ #96.
                        This is a meteoric rise.
Speculation is that he can play all three IOL positions, something needed to be active and suit up.
There is a lot of value to be mined in this draft at IOL & IDL.

so the trade down that keeps getting my attention.... trade down to 14.... yield is 14 overall + their second rounder/pick 45 + a next year's/2025 second.... which is a pretty aggressive return on the 5 overall.

a second trade down that speaks to me is from 14 to 31 to SF.... yield is pick 31 + their second/pick 63 + their first third/pick 94 + a 2025 second, and which again is flexing your trader Joe muscles.... if you end up w/a 2025 third instead of the second, gonna warrant some softie commentary.... ??

personal suspicion is that Hortiz is gonna nail all his pix day one & two, and then the young Johns, Big Jims and Minter and maybe even Roman will get their lix in, and.... we won't have the same luck day three.... leave it to Joe you bums....

and before I list the haul, am gonna add my imaginary trade bonanza from the all of Khalil, Joey 'n Mdub....

                          037) NB Kamari Lassiter * am keeping Mike D. for another year, and lookin' to replace Bryce Callahan in the slot
