And? How is that different from my response to the individual who said Herbert needs a stud tight end?

Why don't you answer the question about Pipkins? You think he's a good enough starting right tackle to say we don't have a need there?

Pipkins was our starter last year. Who will start at TE? Center? CB? That's the question you have not answered, because you don't know
and you don't know for obvious reasons, we don't have a returning TE, Center or a quality CB for that matter. There are no Centers or CB
worth #5. There two OTs worth the pick, one TE, maybe 2 WRs. The question being who will make the biggest impact both next year and
down the road. Then you need to look at the prospects. Is there a 2nd or 3rd rounder that would work at ROT, WR, TE, CB that would start?

The selection problem becomes complicated when you start looking at best player at positions of need. Obviously certain positions are more
important than others. A LOT is more important for a right handed QB. We have that. We have a ROT that needs help, a TE can do that, a WR
cannot. We need to improve the running game, both a ROT and TE can help with that.

One possibility is take a ROT in the first and a WR in the 2nd. That may work. The other is take a TE in the first and CB, ROT, Center in the 2nd.
Or we trade down to get more picks. Lots of possibilities there.
I see you edited and added a ton.

      1. Pipkins was our starter and he sucked. He needs to replaced. We can do that with the fifth overall pick if Harbaugh and Hortiz choose to do so.
      2. You're right. We have needs at tight end, center, and cornerback. Nowhere have I ever denied this. I have no idea where you got that from when I responded that we don't NEED a STUD tight end to win a Super Bowl. Yes, we need a starting tight end. We don't have to use the fifth overall pick to fill that spot, though. In fact, only one team, the Atlanta Falcons, has used a top five pick in the entire history of the NFL Draft. If Harbaugh and Hortiz choose Bowers fifth overall to fill that spot, great. I don't doubt that they'll figure out another effective way to fill that spot if they choose not to select Bowers.
      3. Among the options with the fifth overall pick, I like Alt the best right now. If Laiatu Latu checks out medically, which we will found out during the Scouting Combine, he is my favorite prospect with the fifth overall pick. It doesn't matter who my favorite prospect is, though, because I'm not making the decision.

I still don't know what any of this has to do with my response to us not NEEDING a stud tight end to win a Super Bowl.

I just listed another , better reason why he needs protection for the offense which also helps the running game,...agree, so whats the argument about?

I didn't list his high school injuries, you did. Had to mean something.
I listed all of his injuries as ONE reason why he needs better protection, which is OBVIOUS.

Nowhere in my post does it say or insinuate that Herbert should never run.

Here is an interesting video on Bowers.... not onlyis he an elite tough clutch receiver and runner but is a great run blocker and great pass blocker:

We need TEs. Will use 3 in games at times and imo Parham isnt the type we need so we may draft 2 and sign one. A blocking type guy or something.
I just dont think Parham is a fit here anymore and Smartt is way undersized. He is still only 226 lbs. He has a Raider uniform in his future.

If Bowers isnt the target which id be surprised...then trade down once or twice....but not too damn far.
#8 seems like the sweet spot that makes sense, doesn't it? Get a couple extra picks and still get a blue chip player which is hopefully Bowers. I really believe the Chargers are going to trade out of #5. With the number of QBs that will be on the board, I think that #5 pick will be very competitive.

If they can get a 3rd for Bosa, 4th for Mack and trade back to 8 to get another 3rd and 4th, that would be ideal. I would also trade back in the 2nd up to grab another 4th. With 3 3rds, I’d go back a little bit to grab another 5th as well. I would be done at that point. With all those 3rd and 4th rounders, you could really start build out the team in the trenches and with some skill players.

                Hahaha.
                Exactly, considering the source.
"Pluckability" is catching the football with reliable, consistent, strong yet soff hands.
He says Nabers is a body catcher.

Yeah "pluckability" sounds too much like something else.
                We play modern Harball.

Looks like the Bears are getting a lot of interest for Fields. IMHO, if they trade him it will be sooner rather than later but we will see.

I think with these moves you are up to 13 picks
                    They have 8 now
I like the thought process though. Even if all the picks do not hit - you have increased your odds of success and just filling out the roster.

Some will be core players; some might be ST, some might be inactive but thats okay
