Just because a guy started last year, it doesn't automatically make him a starter next year. You upgrade weak positions... it's the whole point to the draft. There is only 1 question: Can Pippy run block... can Pippy protect Herbert? The answer has been, no. If your new coach and your new GM want to run and protect... then Pippy probably ain't next year's starter.
I'm not against trying Salyer @RT. But that will be up to the coach and GM. Not you. Not me.
The Ravens got it done with a 4th round TE last year. His name is Isaiah Likely. It's comical that you think there is only one exact guy @TE that you think can help the Chargers... We're going to run the ball, and protect the QB. The coach has said it (done it) over and over again. We're going to play defense. We're going to trade back for extra picks. Again, the GM has said this (done this) over and over again.
Pipkens got a new contract doing something - he hasn't been a speed bump his entire time here.
I like the top 3 centers in this draft...JPJ, Frazier, and Sedrick Van Pran...but...there is a bit of seperation between Van Pran and the rest...I almost want to drop him down into the second tier...he has real trouble sometimes at the second level. I was watching a lengthy Deijun Edwards video to see what Beachcomber is on about...but after awhile I started watching Sedrick...and he has some startling whiffs...but for now, Ill keep him on my wishlist, with the hopes he can get coached out of those mistakes...I mean, he gets out there nicely...but overshoots. Certainly correctable...
My dream scenario, outside of Bowers, is to trade back, nab Fuaga, then use that capitol with our 2 to trade back up and get JPJ...then add Estime in the third...
I like this mock draft! Chargers completely rebuild their OL with T Joe Alt in the 1st, C Sedrick van Pran in the 3rd and G Zack Zinter in the 5th. That would massively improve their run-blocking and improve their pass-blocking as well. They even get RB Audric Estime in the 4th. This would set up the base for Harbaugh's offense for years to come with high-quality players.

Which Pipkens will they get?
It feels like switching Zion back to LG really messed with the nice thing they had going together in 2022. I hate switching Zion back to RG again. But maybe pick up a better RG somehow in FA or the draft? Or hope Salyer has a better year at RG after a down one. A new OL should hopefully help.
See I give credit where credit is due. That was a smart precise detailed take.
Heres my argument I don’t think your guy Alt is good as Fuaga as what you’re saying. Running that’s all Fuaga stuff so mention him. Did you see Oregon States run offense last season one of the best in the pack 12.
Also I Think Jordan Miller from Arizona is just as good if not better. He’s a mammoth of a man. And he really did a great job this season. He was the anchor on a great run team that got physical with teams. So let’s talk about that.
So if you can get him at the end of the first round or beginning of the second round why get Alt in the first round at 5 I think Fuaga Williams Fashanou are a lot closer then you think these guys are.
I don’t say the same about Nabers Oudonzie Bowers or Harrison Jr.
with the run on Quarterbacks we have a legit shot at a blue chip Prospect. At 5 that’s what I want. And we can talk about how we want to play and all that.
But at the end of the day you gotta make the plays convert on 3rd down sometimes 4th down score touchdowns. And these guys do that. With an All pro At left Tackle in Rashawn Slater I don’t think we need to override skill for power.
I wouldn't say that Alt is "my guy". I try to be open-minded about all of the players. For the record, I think Fuaga is a very good player. As you point out, he may be the best run-blocker of the group. I see Alt as a better pass blocker, though. Fashanu might be the best pass-blocker of the bunch. But Alt does it all. That's why people are talking about him as the #1 OT. In this draft, there are 2 proven LT's... Alt and Fashanu. Both Fuaga and Mims have been exclusively at RT (from the tape I've seen). There are 3 teams that really could use OT's. Us, the Titans, and the Jets. If we pick Alt and the Titans pick Fashanu... then the Jets are shit-out-of-luck. They need a LT with Becton being a bust and free agent. You know they want to protect Rogers. And that's where a trade-back comes into play with the Jets @#10. Would I be happy with Fuaga @#10...? Damn right!
More than anything, I'm about the trade-back. But if there is no trading partner... Alt makes sense to me.

What about trading down from pick #5 to around pick #10 and then trading down from that pick to around pick #20 and drafting OC Powers in the first? We could then trade Bosa to Dallas for their 3rd round pick as well! We would end up with a grip of draft picks in the top 4 rounds?
BFTB suggests we trade Pip to the Raiders. So Mediocre TT re-unites with Mediocre Pip:
"TRADE: Los Angeles sends Trey Pipkins to Las Vegas for #147, 2025 6th Tom Telesco reunites with his favorite project tackle Trey Pipkins in Las Vegas, who currently have a hole at right tackle."
There's only one issue with this deal, we would have to make it a June 1st designation on the trade otherwise it fucks the cap situation, after June 1st it actually gets like 6.5mil off the books which could almost be the "in season" spending budget...the raiders might be tempted to do this because it gives them an experienced starter for a reasonable price, they'd be on the hook for like 10 mil on the remainder of his two years, correct? Eluemunor started at RT for them last year and had a solid season, now their forums think he might be too expensive to resign...I don't know anything about him but if he does turn out to leave in FA then the scenario of Trey going to LV becomes more of a reality, the Raiders need a QB but the OT class is really good this year, can they get their QB in the first round or do they draft a bookend OT at #13 to go with Miller?
