it’s not the pick nearly as much as the cap room it gives the Chargers

Bosa and Mack probably don't even fit Minter's defense. Minter likes his LB's to be complete LB's... rush and cover. We know Bosa doesn't like to cover... and that's not Mack's game either.

How much money is that freeing up so far?
that would free up about 43mil making the chargers cap compliant at around 25mil OTC but still needing a big chunk of that for other cap considerations like in season spending budget and signing draft picks...so even though they'd be cap compliant they'd still only have around 10mil to spend in free agency, other moves would have to be made to have a realistic shot at signing 1-2 guys in free agency

maybe multiple 4rths, Mack's trade value should at minimum be a 3rd and maybe a 6th in a future draft, he's easily worth that much based on what other teams have given up for older pass rushers in the recent past...much depends on what's going to be available for other teams in the draft or in free agency...personally, I would not trade Mack, I'd keep him and sure as shit would not trade him for less than what he would net us in a compensatory pick...if Mack was a qualified FA this offseason he would definitely be netting the chargers a 3rd round compensatory pick in 2025...we stand to get that in 2025 plus another year of Mack if we keep him so why trade him and create another massive hole on the roster? the guy got better from 2022 because his foot was finally healed, he was a force against the run and showed no signs of losing his patented power...Mack is still under contract and even before the salary cap increase I felt that he should be retained, now that the money is more doable it seems dumb to dump Mack for a 4rth rounder, would not make that trade, hell no...the cap scare bullshit is getting old, cut or trade everyone they say! I say fuck that shit!

the cap going up really helped the chargers a lot, the need to make panic moves went way down, but it also gives the team more leverage in possible trade talks because the need to trade some of these guys has been reduced, assuming they actually intend to trade any of these players...

Trading Bosa or Mack just got easier as the NFL raised the cap to 256M. That's a big deal for the Chargers. As we now have more room to make moves. Expect Allen to be
restructured. One of Bosa or Mack may be back.

If they can trade Bosa for a 3rd rounder... I'd do it. It saves around $14.4m on this year's cap... and clears him off of 2025's cap.
We need TE and RB. You could pick up D'Andre Swift (Eke's replacement) and Hunter Henry. Combined, both would cost less than the #14.4m you save with a Bosa trade. Maybe use the 3rd rounder to replace Bosa... or use @another position and draft OLB @another round TBD.

You can't restructure Keenan (only 2024 left on his contract). But you can extend him 1 or 2 years... then slide some of his previous restructured money to 2025 or 2026 (however long the extension). You could build in a void year, too... if that is their thing. I don't believe Ed McGuire has done that before.

Off the top of my head Jonathon Greenard or Josh Uche at edge because they are much younger.
Would leave some dough for more spots in the trenches. Lots of guys age 25-27 I like.

Bosa and Mack aren't LBs. The fact that Staley had them cover anyone was a flaw. Minter already salivated over the prospect of having 3 prime edge rushers. But admitted that whether they are on the team is "above his pay grade".

Both Harbaugh and Minter have been talking up certain players... a lot of those being players we've all talked about possibly trading. Are they truth telling... or escalating trade values...? We'll find out.
