No way they can predict what Hortiz/Harbaugh will do tomorrow. Maybe with Telesco since there’s 10 years of data there. But I don’t see it. Has to be smokescreen.

If Harrison is gone, we take Bowers, because he is BPA and will have the greatest impact on the new Chargers offense that will be playing 2 TE's most of the time which means we will have only one WR most of the time and 2 WR's the other times....
If Chargers choose one of these top 3 great WR's, we can only afford to keep them for 4 years!....5 years if we let them walk but a smart organization will trade them after 4th season to get draft compensation..... with a great QB contract, we cannot afford 30-40 million per year for a diva WR..... the top TE salary is far far cheaper!.... so we can keep Bowers for his career like we kept Gates....
great CB's can take away great WR's, but no one can take away a great TE.... DB's are too small and LBers are too slow.....KC proved that by easily beating the 2 best most talented NFL defenses in SF and Balt...... with no great WR's.... yet neither super talented defensive team could stop a great receiving TE when it counted!.... and they won 2 consecutive SB's this way... NE won many the same way!
Great teams are built by controlling the middle of the field:- Stuffing the run with great DL and great LBers...
- OL, running the ball with a power running game...
- big tough power RB's who break tackles and dont fumble....
- and a great physical TE who is open quickly when defenses blitze like KC does almost every play.......
- and tough WR's willing to run over the middle and block on running plays....
We have to win division and beat chiefs to do advance in playoffs......With Bowers, we can BEAT the chiefs.... in regular season and in playoffs....
Walsh was quoted as saying WR's are a dime a dozen.... he, the genius was right!.... the QB, coach and system make the receivers.... there are many talented WR's we never notice because of bad coaching or bad QB play....
and today, only bad teams without a great QB can afford a great WR after the "cheap" rookie contract.....
Only one more day, till we all find out.....
Remember.....there are lots (way more then typical) of great WR depth, great OL depth and great CB depth in this draft...... all of our biggest needs after having a great TE which we had none for years.... and have not had since Gates......
remember too that the final 4 best teams last season, all had the top 4 TE's in the NFL, and NONE of the elite WR's.....
I know so many fans love great WR's due to fantasy reasons and spectacular long plays..... but great TE's open up offenses for average level WR's......
If Chargers take one oif the top 3 WRs or Alt at 5 we will be getting a GREAT player..... Im just saying Bowers is the better "FIT" and the offensive piece we have been missing for over a decade....

According to ESPN’s Matt Miller, in his final mock draft of the first round, “sources around the NFL say Harrison has an assurance from the Cardinals that he will be the pick if available at this spot.”
General manager Monti Ossenfort has made it clear that the team is open for business for a trade, which makes sense. He will take any call. However, unless he is blown away by an offer, it makes sense to stay and select Harrison.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.
