Elite playmaker plus an extra pick. I’m in.

      Lance Zierlein

In his latest mock he has us trading down with ATL, and taking CB Arnold (with Nabers and board crush Bowers still on the board). Weird pick when Harbaugh refused to throw to Kool Aid’s side, like a lot of teams. Zierlein sites scheme fit and our true need for a CB1, but was Arnold even top dog on his college team? I dunno enough about either, hypothetically KA’s 40 time is off-putting, but it sure didn’t stop college teams from throwing to the opposite side. Curious.

Arnold is the top CB on some draft board sites and Jeremiah has him #1. I dont know about Harabaugh refusing to throw to his side. Kool Aid only plays one side and maybe thats where Johnson was most the time instead of Roman Wilson. Id have to watch it again.
It was said here that Georgia did that as wll but if you watch that tape, i didnt see it. Goergia just ran their offense even when Kool Aid went out of the game. They still didnt really throw that way much.

In a trade down i think we go Bowers, CB, OL, or Edge. WR can be had later. Just my humble opinion.

My guy is Bowers but i wouldnt be terribly upset if we went another direction. Those i listed are needs and no DT is worth the top 8 or 10 so id be good with either, though a tad grumpy missing Bowers
Like you say, Bowers could be a possibility even AFTER a trade down.

Getting some extra picks via trading down is one of my primary goals, as a make-believe GM for the Bolts. If I can find a trade partner at any spot down to #11, I'm doing it.... for the right price, of course.

O-lines benefit from continuity and playing together over time, this current lineup just needs better coaching and a good center to tie it all together, I'm ALWAYS for drafting trenches, always...and our depth at O-line sucks, outside of McFadden I don't really care for any of them and Foster is not a swing tackle, Bailey has been serviceable at times, but he's like 29 years old...

I won't be surprised if they draft a couple of O-linemen and sign one in FA, but wholesale changes? I'm not sure that's happening this year, but I guess we'll see...

I think you are probably right. Not everything can be fixed all at once in one draft. I think they will be drafting linemen most drafts going forward. For this draft an upgrade on RT would be nice, but the first priority has to be a starting center.

I can see two new starters - OC and guard - and Salyer moved to RT. Center may be on the team already, guess we’ll see (but yeah I’d still draft one).

is it Fuaga? the Oregon state kid? I'm not stupid, I would want to draft that guy any day of the week and twice on Sundays...the hole at center is enormous, the need at RT by comparison is much lower, but if they sign a decent center in FA then I'm like hell yeah, take advantage of all the talent available at OT this year, I'd also be in favor of that plan if they found a way to keep Mack which would keep the defense more competitive in 2024, losing Mack and losing Bosa are not the same thing...

why are you guys so high on Salyer? he took a shit at guard last year and somehow he's going to be this beast at RT all of a sudden? I'm not buying it, another thing about Salyer is his conditioning, he looks like he's been playing a good 30 pounds overweight since he got drafted...not a good thing when you came out of college with a chronic knee issue...

Would we trade one elite talent for 2 or 3 good players? More bodies isn't always better than more talent.
MHJ, Bowers, Nabers, Odunze. How far can we go and still get one?
We have a great QB. I want him to have multiple very good to great pass catchers. 1 or 2 ain't enough and picking later, we'll need luck.

I'd bring back last year's OL with a vet C and new coaches.
