Remember KPRI? I think they were between KGB’s zenith and when 91X came in later with the new wave, you must be a shade younger than me
Cookie lasted 40 yrs at KGB - until abou a year or two ago, long past his sports-solo spots he hung on with the Dave and Shelly morning show, turned Dave and whoever when I think Shelly got too sick or something (not sure, suspect its not good), finally Dave retired. Funny guy. And in the National Ba (input standup comedian clip) sketball Association last night …
I forget the guy that was the Don of KGB after Shotgun Tom’s schtick grew stale - he used to play my band’s originals during his local band hour every week. Only place in the world you’d hear them if you weren’t at our show low - oh well. The ol “almost signed” story is as old as me lol.
Oh yes, KPRI - they had Bree Walker doing the commercials with just her face and lip synching somebodies voice. Of course her cleavage. But Bree Walker I think went to the Channel 10 and did news. She had a hand deformity. Married Lampley for awhile Kimberly Hunt married Billy Ray Smith . Carol LeBeau - all the names of the 70's and 80's local TV
Anyway, I digress - BoltJolt mentioned Sue Delaney. She was on 91x and I think KGB but passed away 5-6 years ago
KGB was also home to that "homegrown" show - Sunday Nights. Stephen Bishop got his start on that show. "On and On' , original lyricss were "Down in La Jolla, they got lots of pretty women.." but they changed it to "Jamaica" as La Jolla didn't sell and well, he did okay for himself
There was also the Jazz channel 98.7 - was it Art Good - it was a popular national Jazz guy
San Diego was a great place to grow up - -great place

Larry Himmel (RIP) had a DJ spot on this station, and used it to promote non-jazzer Bonnie Raitt. It was kind of comical hearing "How About Love" and "Cry on My Shoulder" on a supposed jazz station.

I was in middle school
Larry Himmel talked about why he quit being a deejay as all the people wanted to hear was Rappers Delight
the other big song that year was Rupert Holmes Pina Colada song, Escape
Good point about Jazz - sometimes I wonder if that was more "easy listening" certain parts of the day. Was that KIFM 98.1?

This draft could go a lot of ways. I'll be shocked, shocked I tell ya if we start the season with a string of losses due to making the wrong call with #5.
Bowers is my pick but I'm not worried about it. Hortiz and Harbaugh are going to hit the AFCW like a punch in the mouth with their choices.

Roman has just been so good in the past start ups, I don't see us struggling while the finesse stuff shapes up.

Gigs were commonly held in those two joints on Claremont Mesa Blvd-- The Bacchanal was one. Blanking on the name of the other.

Yes, it was. And over the years, it absolutely transitioned from light jazz into easy listening. Back in the 80's, they promoted Ella Ruth Piggee and Fattburger.

Or is is that farther north - like Del Mar or Solana Beach
And with the 5th pick -- I really like the trade down. Need 4 QBs to be top 5 picks.
