The first Aerosmith song i ever heard (that i knew who they were anyway), i was in 6th grade. We had an area at school where we could go in and study or hang out,... like a free for all , whenever you wanted to go in and there was a jukebox in there, if you can believe it. But this was like 1974? Probably not much studying going on in there now that i think about it.

The song was Somebody from their Dream On album. I asked the kid who put it on, who that was and he told me. From there on, i was a fan lol. Ended up getting that album.

          Totally feel you

For awhile, I really didn't like hearing the Beatles, Stones and The Who for a few years. -- Just heard them all way too much

In my job, I get thsi canned report and there is one tab I have to mock up to present, so the rows are too tall so I always change from 25 to 21.12 to fit on a powerpoint -- just call me the Modern Day "keyboard" Warrior

for myself, the deciding vote gets cast based on intangibles/mindset/mental makeup.... the higher the pick, the less I'd be willing to take a chance on someone not being @peace w/himself, not knowing who he is, and.... eye know that might be asking a fair bit of a twentysomething young man, and.... for that kind of cake.... I want a solid.

Odunze, Verse, Latu, Fashanu, Terrion Arnold, Fuaga, Fautanu, Kool Aid (could call my Oline trio the Ftroop

ps. also gotta just like the guy's vibe (Kyle Posey always said to stick w/your guys and not be so easily swayed by others sentiments that might be more influenced by the herd)

(day two guys) Graham Barton, Jonathan Brooks, Tyler Nubin, Patrick Paul, Ben Sinnott

Kings and Queens is probably one of my favorites probably because it's not over played.

Imo every band has an album that can be considered their "capstone" their best overall work, a combo between their best song writing and sound (production/tone/mixing).
2 trends I see in almost every rock band.

                      1. most write their best aong5 before they connect with a great producer, and the quality isn't there on some of the most classic songs (not to mention, technology improves over time).
                      2. Most get better quality production later in their careers as technology evolves but it goes wasted on songs that aren't as good.

A lot of times their "capstone" coincides with their biggest commercial success, I would say it's no coincidence. Of course with every band, you get a minority of fans that holds the song quality with higher value over production, so their "best albums" are typically earlier ones. The opposite is rare when fans like lesser songs because they're produced cleaner.
in Aerosmith's case, I think they didn't even write many of their songs towards the 2000s.
All that to say, Get A Grip is their capstone imo. Mainstream and commercially successful perhaps, but like I say, not a coincidence.

Creating a "Top-5 songs of all-time" is nearly as impossible as creating a consensus "Top-5 prospects" list.
That's why I did it. Different strokes for different folks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Emotional ties to music is a strong bond. Emotional ties to players... probably just as much...

Being a fan of Led Zeppelin, The Stones, Queen, The Eagles, and Jimi Hendrix... I could have offered different songs by each artist and been just as convinced of their greatness. It's been fun hearing about your suggestions (all suggestions have been great). We needed a diversion.

As for the Eagles - I know Hotel California was always top 5 on that list - but that is one song I just cannot stand by the group. Thats the beauty of music, to each their own

KGB and 91X - the musical stations of my youth. 91X had Katy Manor and Brian Jones in the morning; Steve West middays (I think he passed a couple years ago) and Oz Medina at the foot of the bridge eating Rubios in Mission Beach

Unless you want to count B100 with that Morning Zoo show " Bobby Rich, Scott somebody, and two other jokers"

Cookie Chainsaw Randolph was also on KGB. He was giving the sports scores one day - and the Rams played the Packers - and needless to say, Cookie had a very politically incorrect way of saying how the Rams beat the Packers that Sunday - memories.

Oh yes, I remember Jeff Jer and little Tommy Sablan too - what was that 94.9 maybe.
Hotel C is a great 4 minute song they turned into 7 minutes. Lol

Remember KPRI? I think they were between KGB’s zenith and when 91X came in later with the new wave, you must be a shade younger than me

Cookie lasted 40 yrs at KGB - until abou a year or two ago, long past his sports-solo spots he hung on with the Dave and Shelly morning show, turned Dave and whoever when I think Shelly got too sick or something (not sure, suspect its not good), finally Dave retired. Funny guy. And in the National Ba (input standup comedian clip) sketball Association last night …

I forget the guy that was the Don of KGB after Shotgun Tom’s schtick grew stale - he used to play my band’s originals during his local band hour every week. Only place in the world you’d hear them if you weren’t at our show low - oh well. The ol “almost signed” story is as old as me lol.
