    Step 1:
Trade #5 to Vikes for 11, 23 so they can grab McCarthy (3 QBs go first followed by MHJ)

    Step 2:
Trade #11, 37 to Giants for #6. Overpay for the #6 slot, but Giants can't turn this down.

Net result: We still get a top WR (Nabers), and our #37 gets upgraded to #23.
    Nah, keep 11 and 23 (and 37).

After watching film I'm changing my prediction. I think they stay at #5 and take Nabors. Nabors is a freak of freaks, check out this acceleration:

He's got a rare receiver build = thick lower body with big calves like Anquan Boldin but unlike Boldin he has elite & rare acceleration. No way Hortiz isn't salivating all over that given his experience with Boldin.

I think most teams will have Nabors over MHJ and I don't think it's particularly close. If Arizona doesn't trade out of #4 I'll be very surprised if they don't take Nabors over MHJ, but sounds like it's all but a certainty they're gonna trade down.

Viking brass are not showing up at McCarthy's pro day workout. Is this a BIG SMOKE screen? and they are staying at #11 & #23?
Most evaluators never had JJ in top 15. Why is he moving up? He may go #4 or #15.
Hortiz kinda implied that the heavy lifting about the draft ( making deals and such ) have not even begun. So it tells me that Chargers do not have a deal with Vikes. Arizona just stated that they are open for business to trade #4. So they don't have a deal with Vikes.
This is going to be one interesting draft and after the top 3 picks no one has a clue ( Jeremiah and Velvet hair do you hear me! )

Would people be pissed if the Chargers stayed @5 and drafted Bowers over MHJ? This is of course if they didn't make a trade although I think they will trade out of #5.

Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

Vikings are going with Sam Darnold this season?

No...but I would be questioning their sanity!

I think they have two scenarios (likely more lol, but two main ones):

                  1. Somebody trades up with ARZ, four QBs off the board and they get zero calls so take MHj.

                  2. ARZ takes MHj, and they get a ton of calls and take the best trade down offer and see how the chips fall.

Caveat: I don’t think they are targeting any specific player in any round, or position even. These off-season moves are filling the roster with at least adequate players across the board. They are positioning themselves to do exactly what Horitz has said: BPA and listen to trade offers. I think this strategy will play out every year while we still have Herbert, exactly like this. No mystery, very transparent, just get football players. Having Harbaugh is a super+plus, we just saw that with Fulton (with all of them really), he’s a HC players believe in and they want to play for him. I’m really enjoying the straight up simplicity of this off-season, no wishing on a star, just business. If the season started tomorrow, we’d win more games than last year with the roster as-is. Hell, 5 games is a pathetically low bar…

                  Bring on the draft!

                    I'd prefer MHJ.

A bit disappointed .... not pissed.

Hugely. A WR has way more impact on team success than a TE. So if you're comparing elite TE vs elite WR for the same price you take the WR.

Lets take a look for example at Gates, he has 2 career 1000 yard seasons and he's a top HoF caliber TE.
Compare that with Allen, who while Pro Bowl Caliber is probably going to be fringe HoF caliber at best if he has enough longevity. Allen has 6 1000 yard seasons.

Look at the draft 3 years ago, even if Pitts had matched his projections, Atlanta still would be regretting passing on Chase given how he's turned out.

RE: the receivers, it's worth noting Marvin Harrison Jr. is a prototypical outside X receiver - the same position QJ was drafted to play. So you're gonna have 2 of those guys when your QB has proven he much prefers the slot? Nabers is a more direct replacement for Keenan - took over 50% of his snaps from the slot and had like 15 times the number of broken tackles as MHJ. Bowers can do it too. So Nabers or Bowers. If it comes down to it I think they have to go with the receiver due to the massive contract discount you get. Is there any scenario where they can trade down and still get Bowers?

I wouldn't be pissed at all I think he's eastily the best tight end prospect I've ever seen & most likely hall of famer in the class, there's just not much margin of safety there at #5 due to what you'd be paying him. I just think WR is more of a need especially with a freak like Nabers there. Hayden Hurst is a pretty damn good tight end. Baltimore drafted him in the 1st round for a reason. He's gotten better with age and does everything at a pretty high level.
