The trade down scenerios are endless.
GB has extra twos.
Even Odunze would be an absolutely perfect pick.
He has elements of Slayer (very low dropped pass rate)
MW (very high contested pass rate)
He has elite deep speed.
Rome is a Harbaugh type of player (he lives the game of football)
I know this board has to be sick of me overhyping Alt.
I will try to shut up.
But remember, Hortiz is his own man.
He does not listen to wu.We play modern Harball.

I think a big time under the radar pick at #5 is Byron Murphy and that would also be the most Ravens like pick and anti-charger pick. I think there will also be big time discussions for taking one of the pass rushers. But you pair Byron Murphy with Tuli and the Dline pressure is set for the next 8-10 years.
People will say that's a reach at #5 but who gives a damn if you get the player you want? That kids tape is really really impressive. Defensive tackle has been the worst or one of the worst position groups on this roster for nearly 20 years now going all the way back to when Jamal W. got injured. That would send a strong statement that things are changing.
I don't think they will take Alt because Alt's agent & family will not want him playing right tackle.

Did anyone accuse the Texans of reaching with that pick? Given the player Watt turned out to be, he'd have been a bargain in the Top 5.
Likewise, if Byron Murphy is *that guy*, he'd be worth the #5 pick. Hortiz' and his staff's evaluations are everything here.
The Bolts' could so desperately use a Pro Bowl caliber player on the IDL, and if Murphy is that guy? I'd want him.

The Chargers are highly motivated to move down, almost completely aside from who is on the board @ #5.
The QBs and the big four are leverage to get the best trade(s) we can.
We seek several high midround selections.
Remember, we must have a willing trade partner when on the clock and under the circumstances we face.
High character, high football IQ is desired over athleticism per se.
It is time to get with the program.
BTW I invite anyone to post the vid of Joe Alt pancaking the Wolfpack LB, and then tdy to comvince me that Alt is a finesse player...so misunderstood lol.
Then, I dare you to say "fire the Strength and Conditioning Coach."
We play modern Harball.

Also I don’t think we trade down without trading back up, unless the trade down is to 6 lol. We won’t be drafting this high for a long, long time, grab the elite while you can. And we need elite at multiple positions much more than we need indiscriminate depth. Which would be fantastic if we already had multiple elite guys (only Mack and Herbert qualify IMHO, and Herbert couldn’t finish the season). Gotta have The Guy, as in The Guy, ya know?Last edited by blueman; 04-05-2024, 02:56 PM.

Why the pick will MOST LIKELY trade down:
a) Hortiz has a history of that.
b) #5 is attractive (for a QB OR WR - Nabers or MHJ should be there). Heck, someone may have a hard on for OT Alt
c) Harbaugh prioritizes the OL. So does Hortiz (It's NOT Telesco choosing another 1st Round WR ala Mike Williams, or QJ).
Harbaugh said the QB is MOST impt. OL is VERY impt too because it protects the MOST impt position. Makes sense to me...what do you think?
Therefore: They trade down to #11, Get a solid RT, then get a top CB @#23. Rd #2 DT Fiske (stop run and pass.) Rd #3 Let's go WR Brenden Rice. #4. RB Corum, Ray Davis or Bucky Irving. Other #4 DE. Half of these 6 picks are trenches.Last edited by jox g; 04-06-2024, 09:05 AM.
