As someone that watches every Oregon game possible, many in person, and after meeting Mariota at Fan Day this year I would be surprised if he came out this year. He really is a super down to earth guy that doesn't care about the fame or money, at least that was the way he came off as. Now an Oregon player that will probably come out this year that I would love to see in bolts is De'Anthony Thomas. He is a bit undersized but is freakishly fast and hasn't had any durability issues so far in his career. He can run up the middle with success but is absolutely deadly when he gets outside the tackles or in the passin game. Oh and he is one of the best return guys in the nation. Even if Mathews has a good year and can stay healthy Thomas is capable of filling the Sproles role that has been vacant since he left.

I love Mariota but i think he needs to continue to work on his passing. He was off a little today. But i think hes a special player and will be a very high draft pick. Right now i think Bridgewater is the best pro style QB in the country. He has the speed to run which is nice. He just dosnt need to because hes such a good pocket passer.
Manziel with a stupid read and interception in the red zone. Threw it right to the guy. And this is Sam Houston were talking about.

You guys really think a player develops more in college vs. sitting on an NFL team and learning a pro offense? IMO it just delays a year of development and a year of free agency. Not to mention it risks injury.
If a player gets a projected 1st round grade, he should go.

I do yea. Theres a reason why GMs site production as a big reason they take a player. Especially at QB. You dont see a lot of QBs come out after only 2 seasons of play. Look at the the current top 10. I think all of them other than Rodgers have 3-4 years. I think you would see more QBs come out after just 2 years of production if they felt it was better to learn in a pro system. Also with the money being so much less than it used to some of these kids would prefer to try and win a nat championship. Manziel and Mariota should be in the hunt.

Mariota is only a Sophomore. It wouldnt be stupid if he stayed in school. In fact he probably should. Id be real leary of a Oregon QB because they are a product of the system. Darren Thomas has the school record of 33 TD pases in a season, left school early to play in the NFL and didnt see the field in the NFL, didnt attempt a pass in the CFL this yearOriginally posted by Beerman View PostWe will likely see 4 QB's in the top 6-7 if Mariota and Hundley both declare. This will be awesome for dropping all the OT's to us.
Would they be stupid enough and pull a Barkley and stay in school?Last edited by Boltjolt; 09-07-2013, 05:42 PM.

I watch a lot of Oregon games, and I agree with this re: Mariota.
I like him a lot, but I think he could use another year of playing.
I'm not sure what to think of DeAnthony Thomas in the NFL. He's fast and shifty but undersized. He's willing to run through the tackles, but he's so small I'm not sure how much success he'll have. I wonder if he'll have more of a Sproles type role in the league. Thomas looks so good when you get him in space and on the edges. (The rookie Thomas Tyner though.. I'm excited for him in a few years)
