I don't think we have a chance in hell of getting either of them though. I think Gordon is going to make some zone running team very, very happy, and Cooper is going to be a top pick.

Taking a quick look at out stats, the 3rd down D is still just awful. We are a top 10 D, solid against the run, but still dreadful on 3rd down. Not very effective pass rush. I know people don't want to hear it, but the right pass rusher would make me think hard there too.

Well you see what happened to the Giants when they stopped drafting pass rushers high every year. Ive always been a big fan of going after pass rushers.

The last few seasons our defense has fallen apart when the pass rush ran out of guys. I think we have to draft a guy per year.

As far as the rest of the DL, I am not sure that the drafting high to get DE is helping. Liuget is finally playing pretty consistently, but I still think he would be far more effective if we could just line him up inside and let him attack on every play as a 3 technique. Reyes, still flashes great potential, but then disappears, or plays badly.

I would rather see us go after middle round picks who may be limited, but then bring them in waves and keep them fresh inside and play more OLB/DE types as it becomes more obvious passing situations.

I think he will end up being a bigger steal than Allen was as he gets more into his career. Hes a true deep threat and with Luck throwing him the ball he will end up being a really special player imo. At this point with those WRs being eligible for the draft in 2015 i really only consider Cooper a high 1st round grade. Most of the others are in the back of the first or 2nd for at this point. I like a lot of WRs this year but as far as value goes i think you could get a stud in the 2nd. I still have no problem taking a guy like Gordon in the 1st. I just think hes a special talent. If you are willing to move up for Mathews and be ok with it yu have to be open minded to a talent like Gordon. I dont think the passing game is his weakness hes just not used much there. Wisconsin is a running team. Hes twice the talent of Ball. I fricken love this kid. Cooper and Gordon are my 2 favorite players in this draft as far as skill positions go.
I agree about WR . Im disapointed we didnt get one sooner with the talent of this class. Martavis Bryant is tearing it up in Pittsburgh. I do like Cooper a lot but he isnt near as fast as Moncrief is. Im thinking Cooper will be a 4.5-4.55 guy. Not that he is slow but we dont have a real speed guy. The Colts have two.

He just does everything else so well that his timed speed dosnt really matter to me. Hes so good at separation that he gets behind defenders routinely. I think timed speed might be his only weakness. But im not even considering him as hes likely to be a top 5-7 player.

He gets behind college DBs routinely who wont be drafted. Now im not knocking him but we need a speed guy. You see what Bryant is doing in Pittsburgh and what Wallace did there and what Brown is doing there and what Hilton is doing in Indy. I see their highlights and im in envy.
We need one of those guys. Speed isnt everything, i agree but its the one type of WR we do not have and with our offense having one of those guys would add another element since we do ostly short stuff because we dont have that speed guy. Floyd has some speed but he is not a run after the catch type at all.

I wouldnt be upset if we got Cooper though. Just saying we can use a speed guy. I also would of been happy with Jarvis Landry who isnt a speed guy but he catches everything and is doing great in Miami and is their kickoff returner.

Sure we need a speed guy. But lets be real if we had a Cooper and any of the speed guys available you draft Cooper no questions asked. I think you build an offense around him. I also dont equate timed speed with deep threat ability.

You want a deep threat who could be a steal based on the fact that he was rarely used you have to look at Coates. Probably the fastest player at the combine next year.

If Floyd comes back, I'd have a hard time taking a wr high. Just too many needs elsewhere. OL, DL, RB, LB. With a trade up in the 2nd, that's our first 5 picks.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                  Let’s win one for Mack.

The status of Floyd shouldn't matter. We can't rely on him lasting an entire year.

This is the Chargers we're talking about. We can't rely on anyone lasting an entire year.

I agree with this. Floyds status imo has no bearing. If he comes back, its probably a one year deal anyways.
