It's exciting and to watch but the women's game isn't anywhere near the speed, physicality and skill of the men's game.

I meant to respond to Ninja, he was claiming women's team could beat our men's team

The women's team has been a big fish in a small pond. The Euros are starting to field women's teams which is why their dominance may not last much longer. Strides at international level are typically generational as opposed to year to year. Our team is oldest at this tournament and Spain is either youngest or close. The gap is closing.

Qualifying for WC is a hard slog. The men often play qualifiers with MLS heavy squads as opposed to the Top 11. The margin for error is lower. Inferior teams often bunker which leads to draws especially away games. They play home qualifiers in stadiums packed with fans from away teams country. The US blew it last round, that why we have a new manager. But since 1990 with the exception of 2018 we not only made it to World Cup but got to knockout rounds consecutively including a narrow QF loss to Germany. Pulisic, McKennie, Adams are regular starters for Champions league teams. Our U17 team made back to back QF appearances in U17 WC's. The pipeline is starting to produce. I've been following and attending US men's international games around Europe since the late 80's, trust me the Men have made huge strides.

I'm not taking anything away from women's team, they are the team to beat for sure. I'm a betting man but I wouldn't touch the France game. The competition is closing. I hope they win would love to see them get the 4th star but it's going to be tough. Probably a lot tougher going forward

Like in other team sports, you can't equate the men or women's versions. I enjoy having the USWNT as either the first or second best team in the world, and maybe that won't be forever, but enjoy it while it lasts. I was really disappointed that the men blew the last WC qual, mostly because it denied Pulisic valuable experience at that level. Still have a long way to getting respectability there.
Good game between JPN and NED, open play and tied near the end of the 1st half. If Japan loses, that leaves the US as the only non-UEFA in the quarters.

I watched the game last night and was sort of thinking Spain was trying to get Morgan out of the game. They beat her to death. It was pretty sad. The ref basically let them do whatever they wanted. I dont really think the game winning penalty pick was a penalty. But it made up for the bloodbath that Morgan had to endure with basically no consequences for Spain.
That first goal by Spain for sort of a fluke. Im not sure the goalkeeper should have gone to Sauerbrunn.
