Next Chargers free agent signing might be Malcolm Smith of the Seahawks. Might.

He was the hero of Super Bowl XLVIII. He's a fast LB and athletic.

What's this based on? I'd be down for that

It's a big maybe. Scout.com's Mike Lombardo stated that according to sources (his sources) the Chargers next signing could be one of the stars of the Seahawks-Broncos Super Bowl. I can't think of anyone else that remotely fits that bill - that is also a free agent - other than Smith. I hope he is right.

Something to think about, what if Jones takes over Eddie Royals spot as 3rd WR, only we go to a lot more 2 TE sets. We haven't invested a lot of money in our TE, but it was clearly a disappointment that both Johnson and Green didn't get more playing time at TE last year. And the only way they get to play more playing time for them is if we go 2 TE, since Gates, while sliding, is still one of the better TE.

Tutu still would have a place, since Jones would really be taking the roster spot of Royal, and it would be getting that fairly massive salary off the books (he was getting $5 mill per last season, http://overthecap.com/player/eddie-royal/448/). Royal was really overpaid as a 3rd WR. And as much as I like Eddie, it is a tough option to let developing players site on the bench to force a guy with a high salary sit on the bench. It was a tough option to put guys on the field over Eddie.

That smells like a Larry Brown scenario. Yes he is a SB MVP but hasn't
done much else in his career. He may be fast but he is a 230 lb linebacker who struggles to keep that much weight on. As long as they don't go all Raider/Larry Brown I could live with him but I'm not rushing out to buy his jersey

Dodged a bullit on Marshall 3 years 31 mill!

                  Not worth it IMO.

As long as we don't go after Byron Maxwell. Heard him interviewed and was completely unimpressed, sounded really slow and had difficulty answering questions about DB responsibilities. He will be exposed by whomever signs him and wants a #1 CB that is a leader.

I am shocked he is rated higher than Brandon Flowers, SHOCKED.

Didn't Byron Maxwell force a fumble in that game? He is a top UFA CB this year. If he is linked to us then Flowers meay be going.

Why doesn't Lombardo just say who the player is? Can you paste the article?

I was looking at him and Smith. Guess I didn't remember him too much.
