This is just the usual ..... maybe we can trade our junk ... nonsense that is popular come the start of TC. There is ZERO chance it happens, just like any other year. NFL teams, no matter how much they liked guys in the draft, will do their homework and realize that Lamp and Perryman have zero value. If they are talking trade, they would have already looked at EVERY play Lamp and Perryman have had since they came into the NFL. In fact, given their injury histories, they could afford to watch them a couple of times. They can get either of those guys when we give up on them, and that day is probably coming soon. A 3rd is nice, but is Ingram worth a 1st round pick????? Not unless you can get him to sign a really cheap deal, which he doesn't have.
Vets who are getting premium salaries are often traded for almost no value, because a draft pick is inherently more valuable, since it has a much lower salary attached to it. Ingram is still a useful player, but his value to another team is almost nil, mostly because of his cap hit. Unless they could sign him to an extension for a reasonable salary, why would they want him? And if ANY team could get him on a cheap extension, why wouldn't we do it. Then we can save the pick, and have the option of going best available at DE or any other position. Where if we traded him, we would be forced to go for a DE fairly high, or run the risk of the Lee Williams for George Hinkle type of exchange, where we don't have an adequate backup ready to step up.
