Otto Graham played half his career while the Browns were still in the AAFC. Different league, different era. He was the best of his time but that was such a different game back then. Passing yards per game was only about 185 because teams didn't pass much - it was 3 yards and a cloud of dust football back then (Marion Motley). As a result of the style of play back then teams were not heavily invested in DB's. I'm not knocking Otto (who also returned kicks), I'm just saying you can't compare players from back in the 1940's/50's to today players. It truly is a different game.

Roo you make a great point. Players should be judged against other players of their era. Like a mid 50's completion percentage was good in the 80s but not now due to all the rule changes.

When Otto Graham retired he had all the records.
Amazingly, after 60 years, he still holds 2 NFL records, and they are 2 of the most important.
Career Yards per Passing Attempt
Career Playoff Win Percentage as QB Starter.
He played 10 years professional football.
He made the championship game all 10 years.
He won 7 of those 10 championship games.
His last year, He won the championship.
The following year without him, the team finished last place.
The year BEFORE he started pro football, he played professional basketball for one year.
He was the starting point guard.
He led his team to the championship.
After Bill Russel, he is the second greatest winner in American professional sports.
