Goldman Sachs
I call bullshit
They have never financed a project of this magnitude.
They only help municipalities as far as projects go because they can underwrite bonds.
I have a feeling that the chargers approached Sachs at the possibility of this and Sachs said we will look into it. Period.

ok folks....just another smokescreen.
First off....
Dan Kaplan was an interim for Steve Hartman in the late 90's before Hartman moved to LA. Dan Kaplan covers the Raiders I believe for the mercury and writes for the Business Sports Journal. We can assume his sources are from the Raiders organization. He does not state at what level within the organization the sources are from. The range is from Janitor to Owner. This story has little credibility.
Assume it does. I listened to the interview. The only involvement Goldman Sachs as with the chargers according to Kaplan is to finance the actual move to LA. NOT the financing of the Stadium. Meaning the Chargers don't have the liquid cash to pay the relocation fee or the move itself to LA. Hence them being cash poor and taking a step further the actual construction side of the family business must be in deep shit. the chargers represent their primary source of income.
For the smokescreen to have some viability they had bring in some financial backer since the chargers cant move on their own.
Further speculation, on my part, I actually believe that the chargers want a new stadium here and just don't have the money to finance it like they did in 2003 before the financial crisis.
I still think they are going to stay.
Btw...I also think Sachs told them that they are timid on financing a stadium project on a dump site which is why they only agreed to finance the move.

The dump site in Carson is the biggest clue this is a bluff. No way anyone with a brain would build and move a multi billion company on top of that site. They'd be better off dealing with Roski, or moving to St. Louis once the Rams leave.

Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.
