This is not good. Been doing some searching and digging around and Lombardi may be the only guy even worse than Lynn and Steichen when it comes to being super conservative.

From a Lions fan on reddit.Lions fan here. We had a defense that was 2018 Chicago Bears level of insanity in 2014. So much talent everywhere. We had the #1 defense all season until the prime legion of boom overtook us week 16 or 17.
We just needed a competent offense and we were serious contenders that year. Seems simple enough with Stafford, Megatron, Tate, Bush, and even Ebron, right? Wrong. Absolutely fucking horse-shitingly wrong. It was conservative, predictable, boring, every bad adjective in the book.
For your sake I hope he’s grown so much because I fucking love Herbert. But this hire is ass
Edit: he even called Stafford stupid after he had gotten fired. He’s like a mini, offensive version of Patricia.

His problem was that he tried to make the Lions into the Saints offense. I hope that during his interview that he addressed these concerns. And that hopefully he was humbled by his mistakes there and that he used the last 5 years as the QB coach under Payton learning to be more creative and more flexible.Originally posted by UglyTruth View PostComment

Just wanna make it clear that Joe Lombardi learned under Sean Payton for SIX years BEFORE getting hired by the Lions where he was the worst OC in the league during his tenure there. He screwed up an offense that had prime Matt Stanford, Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush, Golden Tate etc.

You folks worry too much...it's still Staley' team...Staley's philosophy...he already has a system in mind, tailored to Herbert...and he is on record as saying he likes to attack...his OC will be running an offense the way Staley wants it run...and I doubt it will be conservative or boring or turtlesque...Adopted Bolt: Kimani Vidal RB
