Sure, it would be nice to draft a young CB (its almost a need actually) and add more Front 7 depth in the draft. I get the organization needs to figure out MW and HH - because part of the solution to the OLine is cap space and drafts. But improve the OL and SPecial teams and those will drive the biggest overall benefit to the team.
Nope. I'm at the the young CB first. Why? Because we're going to overdraft for what the talent level is going to be at #13.

    1) Two top CB's
    2) Te Te if the two above are not available
    3) Trade down if all three are not available and we have a motivated trade partner and then draft your oline.

Otherwise I have visions of Fluker in my mind?!?!?!?1

The suits know. Staley needs to duck the bait & switch offers and drive home his vision.

The key going forward is the OL. Last year, Herbert was great under pressure. The problem is that is hard to sustain. A lot of the best QB are good one year vs pressure, then not so good the next.

If we want Herbert to continue to develop, we are probably going to need to give him the support that he didn't have this season. That means time to go through his progressions and make reads. And a running game might help.

It's just really hard to totally rebuild an OL in one offseason when there is really only 1 player that we can count on (Bulaga), and even he is not that great. We can probably get by with 1 of the 5 being a sub-par player, but that is about it. That is not much of a margin for error, adding 3 new starters to rebuild an OL.

That is regardless of doing it via the draft, off the street or via FA. The demand for OL is still high among every team, and the supply is just not there.

How successful the new staff is will largely be determined by how many of the current players they can resurrect. We simply have no chance of rebuilding the entire roster this offseason. We need OL, DL, LB, edge rushers, secondary .... Many of those holes require more than 1 player, so the numbers game is really against us.

That is a good point that you don't take OL just to take OL as you will end up with a Fluker. Can't have that. To me the key for the Chargers is hoping their is a run on QBs like Kipers mock draft. Chase, Sewell, Smith and Pitts seem like locks besides the QBs. But if Lance and Mac Jones work their way into the top 12 - that could leave Slater or a DB at 13. And the Chargers need CB

Yep...all the more reason to draft OT in round 1, then IOL in either round 2 or 3...then triple dip at O-line in a later round...

I think it is kind of cool knowing that Joe is the grandson of one of the most important and influential coaches in the history of the NFL.

Joe brings a lot of Drew Brees experience to a young QB with similar mental skills in a bigger, stronger, more athletic package. Sounds great. How it actually works?
For starts, OL is a must. We either sign a decent FA starting LT or draft him at 13. The OL needs more but let's start at LT. An OG and / or C are needed.
Joe is used to fielding a quality OL unit. Hopefully he's aware that it isn't a given on LAC. Quality offense requires a quality QB with quality blocking.

Vince Lombardi was one of the most famous American football coaches of all time.
Lombardi lived from 1913 – 1970, and within his life led the Green Bay Packers to 5 NFL Championships. After his passing, the NFL Superbowl trophy was renamed after him, and his name was put into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
