10+ wins gives an opportunity to win a Super Bowl. Make the playoffs and we have a chance. Also, the plus sign gives a floor of 10, not an absolute figure.

Going into this year I thought we could be a year away from being a serious contender for the Lombardi.
Now that the year is up I think we are farther away. My biggest concern is the injuries to our recent core of first and 2nd day draft picks under TT. That can not remain a trend or we get nowhere.

I expected a 'regress' year in 2014. Considering the schedule and injuries we had I think MM did a really good job of, at least, keeping us in the hunt. They could have folded like a cheap tent, but MM never lost the locker room. Of course I see the injuries as just about our biggest issue, but I also think we need an identity. We need a loud, vocal, in your face, hold you accountable LEADER. We have a lot of 'nice guys' as our veteran leadership right now, but an "I'll kick your ass if you don't do your job" guy or two would benefit this team a lot, IMO. The only guy on the roster close to being that is Fluker.

You're right. If the head coach isn't that guy (which he should be, IMO and McCoy doesn't strike me as that type, and it was also one of my biggest beefs with Nerf Turtle), then you absolutely need someone like that on both sides of the ball.
Rivers does a good job of that a lot of the time on offense, and we know that Fluker doesn't shy away from leadership. I don't see anyone on defense with that mentality and it's sorely needed (more so on that side of the ball, IMO).

In 94 we had Humphries and Seau leading their units. Even though both were playing with one arm that year, they backed it up on the field.
A huge reason we went to the SB.

Fluker can talk all he wants, but you have to back it up on the field to get players to buy in. Thats why a move to OG is critical. He could be great there.

Tom Brady is 37. Elway was the oldest QB to win a Super Bowl and he was 38 and had a pretty bad game.

I think the goal of an NFL team should be to become an annual 11 wins team. A lot of teams has missed the playoff with 10 wins. Matt Cassel led NE team in 2008 missed the playoff with 11 wins.

It's easier and more realistic to focuses on becoming a regular, consistent winner than to focuses on winning the Super Bowl. It takes a lot of lucky breaks (including injuries, officiating) go your way to win a SB.

When you have become a consistent winner, you have greater chance of winning the SB.

At this moment the Chargers have not become a consistent winner. I think they should focuses on that goal.
