I know that the Chiefs defense this season finally got better when they moved Chris Jones back into his natural position of DT. Hence why they traded for Melvin Ingram so that he can play edge opposite Frank Clark. So once again, do you know football? Because right now, it seems the answer is no. It also seems that you’re also new to watching football.

He isn't Reggie White or prime JJ Watt elite.

Remember, he was primarily a defensive end the first meeting, going up against the shaky Storm Norton.
How many pressure/sacks did he get in that game? I only remember one.

Pip would have dominated his ass.

And I’m telling you if they saw Pipkins starting they would immediately put Chris Jones wherever the hell Pipkins is. Regardless of whether it’s interior, exterior, WR, wherever.

He’s statistically the worst tackle in the NFL. PFF ranks him worst or among very worst every season he’s started for a reason. So maybe Chiefs don’t like Jones at DE against most matchups but against Pipkins they will take it.

Norton is still better than Pipkins and that’s why he starts over Pipkins. The only reason Pipkins has a job in the National Football League is because of potential illegitimate relationships between his family members and Telesco. If/when he gets cut by the Chargers, he will never find a job playing football again.
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

          - 69-74 record
          - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
          - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
          - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
          - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
          - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
          - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

Pipkins can't be among the worst ot in football, because he has hardly played this season.

Norton is better than him right now, but if you break down his technique from kc game vs before kc, it is night and day.

Now, has he really fixed his tech issues?????
              Time will tell.

The issue going forward what positions we want to address? We have some needs, and while we have a lot of draft picks, few are quality picks ( more likely to be quality players). We don't have the money to address every need with a quality pick or fa. Norton and Pipkins and both improving players who cost nothing. Even an average fa ol is going to cost $10 million plus.

                  It's unfortunate.

Yes Jones would have been a better match up for kc, but he can only line up in 1 spot. They needed his help all along the line. But if Jones was the only player on their dl doing much, I don't see it helping. Conversely, kc d has played well lately and that was more than just Chris Jones.

What we may not have is another chance to evaluate pipkins again. Pipkins has the ideal physical tools to be a great OT. His technique has been awful, so you would like to see more of that in a game. If he can continue to play with solid technique he might be a good backup. If he can develop good/great technique he can be a starter.

Norton will be back because he costs nothing. Pipkins is cheap too. But you would like to know what you have. Do we have to spend big bucks on a rt???? Looking at mock drafts, I don't see a lot of immediate help getting into the 20's.

It's quite possible to see Pip again at LT:

                    * with a blow out win against the Texans
                    * with a meaningless Raider game where they have already clinched a wild card spot defeating Houston/Denver

All hail Slater! Glad hes back and we only have to put The Quiz in at center. I guess its like a bye week for getting bodies healthier. Any news on Bulaga at this point….wonder if hes even a remote possible return?

                          In regards to Pipkens…

The KC game was a single game, but it was very promising. Is it small sample size, or is it an indication that he’s improved? Does this indicate that we finally have the coaching to develop quality talent. Perhaps Telesco wasn’t a failure in drafting O-linemen, but rather we didn’t have the coaching to develop it. I wonder what Lamp and Feeney might have been with better coaching.

Slater is the LT moving forward, end of story. Is Pip just a good depth piece, or could he slide to right tackle? He has superior physical tools over Norton, who is also a backup quality RT. Norton has proven that he should have a job in this league for a long time moving forward, but as a backup. But if Pipkins really has developed, could he be a split RT on the other end of the line opposite Slater?
