GMs to NFL columnist: Rivers not going anywhere

The rumor that the Chargers are trying to trade quarterback Philip Rivers to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the second pick in the draft has been gaining steam in recent days, but that doesn't mean it's likely.
Citing multiple general managers, NFL Media columnist Adam Schein said the idea of San Diego shipping Rivers off to Tennessee makes little sense for either team.
According to an NFC GM interviewed by Schein, the rumors are being driven by Rivers, who grew up close to Nashville, and his agent, who is based in Tennessee. Another GM said said he contacted the Chargers and got a simple answer from San Diego GM Tom Telesco.
"San Diego told me he's not going anywhere," the anonymous NFC GM told Schein.
So while the rumors swirling around Rivers have made for interesting offseason fodder during a week in which the Chargers also continued to show heavy interest in Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, they appear to be largely unsubstantiated.Go Rivers!

According to Bleacher Report's Jason Cole, Philip Rivers believes the Chargers are "not going to pay him."
In other words, Rivers forcing his way out of San Diego isn't just about relocation fears. Per Cole, the Chargers are "extraordinarily concerned" about Rivers' physical condition, as well, and will most likely package him in a deal for the Titans' No. 2 overall pick. Cole reports that Rivers would "love" to play out his career for the Titans and ex-Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt. The smoke continues to build toward a Bolts/Titans blockbuster, but it doesn't yet appear inevitable.

“San Diego Chargers will ultimately make a deal with the Tennessee Titans for the number two overall pick. As part of that trade, the Chargers will send the number 17 overall pick and Philip Rivers, just as a start, for the number two pick.”Maybe we can throw in Weddle and Keenan, too. LOL!

Sense of Deja Vu here: supposedly Indy was going to take Leaf and Beathard was banking on getting Manning, but Indy reversed course and took the safe pick in Manning. would be funny/sad if it repeats where TT gives up a ton assuming Tampa Bay still wants Winston- but they change course and take Mariota instead, leaving us with sloppy 2nds again. If that happens, I will volunteer to drive the bus taking the team to their new home in the dump in Carson!Life is too short to drink cheap beer
