I like the enthusiasm from the WFT fans. But the Chargers are just a better overall team (especially with James back and a re-built OL). We have the better QB and we have more offensive weapons. We shall see about the coaching... can the old mules keep up with the young innovators...?Protect the QB
Run the ball
Play great defense

In terms of coaching, I don't think it's just old dogs vs innovators, I think it's time with team as well. The bulk of our team grew together last year (like yours will this year) and are building on the steps made, good and bad. Our DLine for example has a full year of playing together in Jack Del Rio's system, and they process the game faster. That stuff just doesn't happen in one offseason with no real game time experience.

I couldn't let Redskins1 stand alone though, so let me add a second WFT voice here. Can't wait for the game, and to see how both teams show up. Love the early matchup for these two teams. I see big things for both teams. A few quick notes on why my WFT will win tomorrow and why they could lose:
The obvious - Our Dline will dominate your Oline. I'm not talking about Sweat/Chase at the ends, you will see a guy Matt Ionnaidis tomorrow, who will be huge. He was our best DL guy before he got injured, and he is a monster. The rotation of Allen/Payne/Settle/Ionnaidis will prove too much for your line so early in the season.
The shocking - the QB on the field with the better completion percentage last year is Fitzpatrick (68.1 to 65.1) the QB on the field who was better under pressure last year per nextgenstats(see link) - Fitzpatrick.
The tried and true - Coaching experience. Between Rivera and Jack Del Rio, our team's coaching staff has more experience at calling games then your whole staff combined
The reasons we can lose -
Fitzpatrick's INTs . No doubt if Fitztragic shows up, the burden will be on our defense not only to stop Herbert and his strength, but keep our team from imploding.
Our rookie St. Juste can't handle Mike Williams. He looks the role, but Mike Williams can make him look like a rookie.
Derwin James - He can really make Fitzpatrick look bad. If he does that, we will struggle.
Once more, Good luck to your team this year and hope we see a good, clean, injury free game.
2. Even if the WFT DL dominates the Charger OL, that is unlikely to matter. The Chargers had the worst OL in the league last year. They were dominated in every game in the trenches and yet Herbert still did well enough to be Rookie of the Year. Herbert is just that good.
3. Fitzpatrick could not even retain his job over Tagovailoa, who is not even half the QB Herbert is.
4. Staley was the best defensive play caller in the NFL last year. He will be calling defenses for the Chargers. Rivera and Del Rio have a combined 7 winning seasons as NFL head coaches to go with their 15 non-winning seasons. They are more experienced, but their records do not suggest better. Their records just suggest "older".
5. When I look at this game's four primary units (the two offenses and defenses), I see a good, but slightly overrated WFT defense that produced good stats against crappy QBs and lost every game it played against a top 15 rated QB (0-5); an underrated Charger defense that is probably just as good with the return of James as the much hyped WFT unit; a good Charger offense with lots of weapons and a legitimate MVP candidate at the QB position; and a weak WFT offense that is no better than a bottom 10 unit.
6. Anything can happen, but on paper, the Chargers have a clear advantage.

Fitzpatrick is going to be 39 in November. Fitzpatrick has never been good enough to land a permanent starting QB gig. His career stats tell that story. He has always been a temporary QB until a team can find something better. His career record is 59-86-1 He has had only one winning season as a starter. His TD-INT ratio is 223-169.
Last year the Chargers defense faced Mahomes, Brady and Brees, among other QBs who are much better than Fitzpatrick. The Chargers were in position to win all those games.
WFT is counting on its defense to win. But if their offense can't sustain drives - which I believe will be the case tomorrow against the Bolts' defense - no defense can stay on the field that long and not break down, especially against an offense loaded with playmakers and led by a QB of Herbert's caliber.
No way the Chargers lose this game. The Bolts will dominate. WFT's defense may stop it from becoming a blowout, but, again, it will be a lopsided game in favor the Chargers.

One thing I know for sure is that regardless of the outcome of tomorrow's game, I will be rooting for the Chargers next Sunday against Dallas!

Also worth noting, the players have had a lot of input on playing style. True BS is HC and they're working under his tent but it's been evolutionary already. No square pegs being driven in round holes. All like his style.

WFT has exactly two noteworthy skill players on offense--McLaurin and Gibson. I could name a dozen or more TEs that are at the same approximate tier as Thomas.
I suspect the mismatch in the game will be the Charger defense versus the WFT offense. There will be tons of pressure on the WFT defensive unit to slow down the strong Charger offense, an offense now freed of the Anthony Lynn anvil that was around its neck because it seems unlikely that WFT will be scoring very many points. WFT's likely only chance is to win a low scoring game. If the Chargers score 30, and they every well could if the Charger defense is getting off of the field quickly on stops, the game will essentially be over as WFT is not likely to score that many points.

It really all comes down to Fitzpatrick - if he plays turnover free, we will win. If he can't get it together we won't.
Either way, I expect a helluva game

Fitz can be very good. He's a 1.5 grade jump over WFT's QBs last season, IMO.
