Report: Bears have inquired about Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones (usatoday.com)

The Chicago Bears have already added one big name to their defensive front in the last month. Could another one be coming? General manager Ryan Poles and the Bears have reportedly inquired about the availability of Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones, according to Payne Insider of the Bet the Board podcast. Jones has been missing from Chiefs training camp all summer due to a contract dispute and has no plans on reporting any time soon. On Thursday’s episode of the betting podcast, Insider and co-host Todd Fuhrman were previewing the AFC West. When it was time to talk about the Chiefs, Jones’ contract situation came up, and Insider said the Bears made a call in regards to his availability. The report was shared by ESPN 1000’s Carmen DeFalco on Friday’s “Carmen and Jurko” show, who provides background on Insider as someone “very plugged in across the NFL.”

Chiefs played lots of close games last year and won most.

Chargers could have easily won the west last year without so many injuries. Had they not choked in the playoff game they could have beat KC. Kc lost a lot of playoff games too before finally breaking through.. That Charger loss should elevate the team going forward.

Herbert is also elite. Reid is a coaching advantage.

These two teams were close last year and even more so this year.

Law of averages: Chiefs 5 straight AFCG hosted at Arrowhead. 7 straight AFC West Champs. Got to have a lot of things go your way to do this. I follow KC close. They are arrogant and that does not play well. They have the first place schedule to play. I see an off year and a wild card. Can they win it all in the playoffs? Sure. But no homefield is a game changer. Of course I hope they prove me WRONG.

FREE AGENT end they signed is suspended the first 6 weeks. Toney had knee surgery. Jones is holding out. Sneed has missed all of camp with a knee injury. Chiefs are extremely questionable on the DLINE. They lost Shuster, Hardman, Clark, Thornhill, Saunders, Brown and Wylie to free agency.

Reid is approaching Belicheck status in his ablility to win with whoever he has. He has found his Brady in Mahomes. And the KC front office has hit on a lot of picks, even in late rounds. They won games with Jones playing as a very ineffective DE until they signed Melvin late in the year. The only difference is Belicheck cheated every way he could and so did Brady while Reid would never do that.
