When you're losing, it's easy to blame the refs. When you have a checkered history, as the Chargers have had, blaming the refs is a much more popular pastime.

As for Herbert, I think it's entirely possible that he regresses, statistically, this year. Hell, the guy has only started 17 games. A *little* patience with him - and Staley - might be in order. This is probably a 10-win team, at best. It's just one game.
Can you explain taking away two touchdowns in a competitive league during a close game? How is that not “refs took the game away from us”?

Bad calls are part of the game and go both ways.

            Where were ours?

also bad calls are different than made up calls. The holding is a bad call the motion was a made up call.

No, Budsman is right. Rip negates holding. It was a rip move. Bad call.

It's not always about calls but also call that don't get made. If you watch the film you will find plenty of no calls that benefited the Chargers.

There was only one player in motion. If they are calling the top receiver resetting his feet for a split second, that about as ticky tack far away from play as a call can be. Otherwise it's a completely phantom call that took the TD off the board. Just awful by refs either way.

Cook went in motion at the bottom while Williams wasn't set on top. Cook never got set again. If he would've it would've been a legal shift.
