I just ate cheeba chews for 2 days following my knee surgery. Worked great. Got me through the worst part.

I never played soccer so this is a serious question...How are these knee injuries happening? Is it through contact with other girls or is it the turf? Something else?

Girls actually have a much higher rate of tearing ACLs than guys do. I'm not sure they know exactly why, but have heard it could be because their hips are wider or they just don't have the leg muscle mass to protect the ligaments.

Interesting. I wonder if all-dirt fields would lessen knee torquing or abrupt twisting for the girls. Because there wouldn't be as much of a soft place for the foot to secure a hold. Of course it would hurt to fall down then. :banghead:

In her case it was planting her foot on turf and it just popped as her leg torqued. Ironically, she finally had her surgery yesterday. Took 9 freaking weeks to get insurance approval and the surgeon to be available. 3 weeks of it was the insurance company literally transposed 2 digits on her date of birth in the system and couldn't fix it to get approval!

Surgery went fine, but she is in a lot of pain. Tough to see your kid suffering.

I find it tough to see anyone suffering. Hopefully, it passes quickly.

In the meantime, try and get her mind off of it with laughter. Here's (hopefully) a good joke to start with.
