Scary to save a spot for Tourek to start the season. I get the why, just don't like being that thin at that position, even for a few weeks.
Very thin at OLB

I was assuming he has a 6 week recovery, although that was when he was hurt, so it is about 5 weeks left.
Why would you not keep a guy on the active roster if he will be back in a few weeks? You don't let minor injuries keep him out. So he misses a couple of games? So what? How many games will players that make the roster miss? And if it is only going to be a few weeks, I wouldn't use the IR thing on him. If he was going to miss close to half a season or so, then yeah, it makes sense. But for just a couple of weeks it is pretty much the same thing as getting dinged during the season.
Now, if we can find a decent pass rusher, or even another JJ type of OLB (stout run defender), then fine, get rid of him (although I still say we at least potentially keep 6 OLB among the top 53). But we aren't going to, just because guys like that don't get cut very often (and have to clear waivers). I have no problem if Underwood or Mueller can flash some pass rush ability, but how much have they shown yet? And that is preseason, vs guys who won't make the active roster. I can see them maybe being on the practice squad if they show well, but right now they haven't shown much.
I also think way too many people put too much faith in the "final" 53. In the 5 or 6 years I have really been paying attention, we have yet to go through the week before the first game without roster moves. The regular season roster will be set a couple of weeks into the season, and there will be several players who aren't in camp right now. If we can get 1 or 2 new OLB who are decent players, then fine. We can even go after any decent 43 DE too, since they can play OLB in our D.Last edited by Steve; 08-24-2015, 07:13 PM.
