I don't know that it's a dumb rule. Why not put the roster at 60 and game-day rosters at 53? The NFL can certainly afford a few extra players per team.

How is that any different than what they currently do? And since the salary cap per team is a formula based on money taken in by the league, adding more roster spots means less pay per athlete, something the players will never go for (just like the owners won't go for paying out more to make up the difference).

There would be more seven more players available each game-day if it went 60/53. That could afford a team depth along their lines without compensating at any other position. The salary cap would need to expand. No doubt about it.

I get your point about more players, but it still seems odd to me that players get paid, travel with the team and get service time, yet cannot play in the game. It seems like a bizarre rule to me.

Raise the cap. Simple. Players are underpaid anyways.

Underpaid? Seriously? Tell that to a blue collar worker that a guy who makes more in a year than he'll make in his lifetime is underpaid.

the rule seems to make it fair for both sides if injuries are rampant for one of the teams going in. But I hear what you're saying. It is kind of weird right now. I think the solution is to expand rosters and raise the cap.

I get the intent, I just don't agree with the idea. Do any other sports have such a rule?

I don't know. Seems like Rugby or Hockey might because of the physical nature of the sports.

Rich, how's your daughter doing now?

Man, you're in such a tough spot there. I'm sure you want to take away her pain but not sure if giving the most potent - and addictive/deadly pain relievers is the best thing to do. I feel sad for any parent dealing with such issues. I hope YOU are doing okay too.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Troutman and Tourek are the easy ones.
                          Inman
                          Perryman
                          Philon
                          Brown
And my Dark Horse is Steve Williams. I think it was Bonehead that said Mager is our 3rd best cover guy. Totally agree, which makes Williams odd man out.
