Earlier in the season I started the post "Should we stop going for it on 4th down".......anyway...I said then and I say it now. Brandon Staley is not of sound mind and he should be fired. That last timeout proves it. As well as the 4th down at our own 18. I have not hated a coach ever of the Chargers. He is the first. Until he is gone I cannot commit to this team.

The last timeout didn't matter. The Raiders might have been trying to run out the clock but they were picking up yards with ease. They would have stumbled into FG range regardless.

The broadcasters even questioned it, plus many others here.

Tough loss. People blaming staley for the timeout need to get a grip. It was the smart call. The raiders were going to kick. We needed them to have to make a choice if we stopped them on 3rd down. If we didnt call a timeout they couldve tried a 55 yarder with 1 second left

The TO and 4th down try in 3rd quarter are far worse than anything Lynn did,

we did not deserve it. lots of work to do on defense.

This Chargers team is not a playoff team....period.
The Raiders were clearly the better team tonight.

This team is at a crossroads.....not convinced that all they need is a RT, a pass rusher, a corner, etc.
This coaching staff has some big question marks hanging over their head with how they performed not only tonight,
but over the last 12 games of the season.

Bringing in Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator would be a good start.
Rookie head coach, rookie d-coordinator, junior offensive coordinator, not an impressive team performance.

Some here will blame this player or that player on the squad;
Raiders won with Brandon Parker at RT, Alex Leatherwood at RG, Brandon Facyson at corner.....

I'm not even upset. They were exposed tonight...now we know.

Two things. Our right offensive line with Schofield and Norton. Second Chris Harris needs to pound sand as well as Linval Joseph. We have three over paid players who contributed pretty much zero plus a dumbass DC.

Hard to lose that game. What an effort at the end by the offense.

For everyone freaking out about the time out at the end, Staley called it with 4 seconds left on the play clock. Made sense to set the defense, so that they could stop the third down run. When we couldn't, that was the game.

We know we need some more pieces on defense. And the only reason this went to OT was Herbert and the receivers. Would have been a hell of a story to back into the playoffs down by 15 points in the 4th quarter, and converting on, was it 5 straight fourth downs? That's your franchise QB willing the team to OT when the rest of the team and the coaches came up way short.

No the difference of the game was giving up a first down on a draw play on 3rd and 23

That reminded me of a game against the Raven's, some years ago -- it was 4 and 17, but the Ravens converted and the Chargers lost. This team is just snakebit in those situations.

No, the Raiders were picking up 6-7 yards a carry WITH EASE. They would have found themselves in FG range no matter what.
