In fact the team *did* address with OL and DL the last two off-seasons. Which then begs the question: Why isn't it working? One could argue that Linsley, Slater, Zion, and even Salyer are all top-end additions. Even Pipkins has improved. And Fieler is serviceable. That *should* be enough, right? And yet it isn't.
Same withe DL. Bosa, Mack, Johnson, and SJD...all quality. Granted, Bosa is injured, which is huge. But both the OL and DL have vastly underperformed this year, IMO. And it all can't be blamed on injuries. Because other teams have had OL/DL injuries and haven't fallen apart like this team has.
Once again, it points back to the coaching and/or scheme. Staley either doesn't have "it" or he was promoted too quickly. Or both.

Q, I am not liking the optics from Staley at pressers now.
Football players have excellent bullshit detectors built in.
@ATL will be an very interesting case study.
For whatever reason, players are not playing the scheme correctly.
The gash plays kill us...long runs.Maybe we do play modern football.

Popper asked, why no deadline trades ?
Staley included in his response the comment that "not a lot of these trades are made."
This was the day after a record ten trades were made.
It is becoming crystal clear that critical comments about never replacing Guyton, following injury, were spot on.
Palmer says he is good vs the Falcons. Who else can lift us ? Smartt ? Reed ?Maybe we do play modern football.

Who knows? Maybe I'm being too optimistic.

We now need to watch with eyes wide open how the Chargers play vs the Falcons and beyond.Maybe we do play modern football.
