Probably could have drafted an o-lineman in the first round and re-signed Ryan Mathews.

The 9ers, when they thought it was to their advantage, used to pretend their headsets didn't work so that the opposing team couldn't use theirs.

Walsh didn't cheat the salary cap - there was no salary cap during his time. He just was a beneficiary of large amounts of spending done by the 9ers white-collar criminal of an owner.
I don't think cutting players knees out during running plays is cheating, just a dick thing to coach.
      Prediction:
      Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

Because this team almost always opens every game with the sane exact run plays up the middle on first downs allows the defense to stack the box. Go back and write down what plays are called on every down, and you will discover the Chargers are scared to attack deep. Until the HC grows some balls, this team is in serious trouble. No team has a good enough line to be so conservatively predictable. That's why so many injuries to the oline.
Are they scared to attack deep, or just unable to protect the QB long enough to throw deep? Rivers got sacks and hit on 3 step drops? Not a whole lot of deep patterns that develop in the time it takes a QB to drop 3 steps. (Note the sarcasm).

Coryell would throw deep on the first play of the game. When the defense stacks to stop the run, in tight as you see against the Chargers that means get the ball deep , but mix it up with different plays. A team has to attack.

This is a rough game, you have to hit them hard get a big lead then you can go to a conservative game plan, but you can't open with one. McCoy has no balls, and he needs to grow some in a hurry or this wiil be a very very bad year.

Seems like we give up a down every series with the 1-2 yard (if we're lucky) handoff up the middle. Then it's 2nd and 8 or 9.

We just aren't run or pass blocking well. We can't sustain a running game because of all the times we lose yardage, and we cannot protect Rivers even on short passes.

The big problem is we paid a ton of money to get Franklin to upgrade the interior pass blocking and the run blocking. He has not played well so far, and now maybe out for a while. Even if he isn't, will he be just struggling to play, or will he be part of the solution.

We keep putting our D in horrible field position and then just let Cinci and Minn take shots over and over again. They are under no pressure to perform, and if they give up any yardage, we give up points. The OL has to get better, but I don't know quite how it is going to happen.

The D has been put in bad positions by the offensive struggles, but they really aren't doing much themselves. 1 sack in 3 games by the entire team?

Zero, and I mean zero impact players on defense.

There is a system issue with the whole Chargers team.

The people to be held accountable are:

                      1. Spanos family
                      2. Telesco
                      3. McCoy
                      4. Staff
                      5. Players

The system issue is identifying players that can contribute and stay on the field.

Depth seems to be an issue as well.

                      Impact players is another one.

This is the third year of the telesco McCoy era and can definitely see a regression in terms of
Players who can contribute, stay healthy, and have an impact.

Which son is in charge of the personnel side of
                      The organization?

This dude seems to be lacking.

Coryell had a great O'line. We don't. Hand the ball off. We aren't conservative enough. No way Rivers should be throwing the ball 34 times while our 1st round running back only carries it 14 times.

The problem? No. We need better players. But, if we had run the ball more today, Rivers wouldn't have taken that shot to the ribs.
We would have still lost, but we'd have a healthy Rivers.

Memo to Telesco - Don't waste picks on a runningback if your playcaller doesn't plan to use him.
