He is more a under the radar signing and he is certainly better than Mel at this stage who I have seen mentioned here, and Fackrell.

As i mentioned I was never big on KVN coming out but he played well for NE. Not so much in Detroit. Hope he fits for us.
Fackrell was a good backup to have. The Raiders got him on a one year deal. But the Van Noy signing makes up for it.

Van Noy is better than some of the backups this team has gotten in the past over the years.

Great interview. Love this guys laid back demeanor but also competitive attitude. True vet.

Van Noy seems genuinely excited about playing for the Chargers. He's even excited about Tillery.

KVN was on the Pat McAfee podcast today and talked about how he has been wanting to rush the passer more. Acknowledged his versatility has taken away from his availability to just get after the QB. He also pointed out his pressure rate is 13.3% to Bosa’s 15%. Just the way he talked definitely made it sound like he is here for that EDGE role more than a LB role.

Clearly a better edge3 than Fackrell.

Also he's the ideal edge to drop into coverage instead of Bosa.

Van Noy would have been a starter, or played starters minutes, on most Charger teams this past decade

Doesn't have to be edge to rush the passer

I’m aware. He specifically says playing on the edge.

I think KVN is an hybrid player.

Initially I was thinking Van Noy lacked ideal size to work as an edge rusher exclusively or even primarily. He's 6-3, 250. Bosa is 6-5 280. Mack is 6-3, 267. But Van Noy is exactly the same height/weight as Von Miller and he's about the same size as TJ Watt (6-4, 252). Micah Parsons, maybe the ultimate hybrid LB/Edge is 6-3, 248. So we're good to go.
