Van Noy is ok. He is just perhaps a better version than Tranquill who will get hurt eventually.

The fact that he has played ILB and OLB and can and might play both.
We are all guessing what we think Staley likes/wants but we don't really know and we certainly didn't have Van Noy on our lists of players to sign.

Decent signing, can help in two areas.

Didn't mind that signing. And don't mind this one, I've just never been a big fan of Van Noy but he can help.

Im not expecting anything big from this FA round. We are just filling depth.

Last season KVN played 16 games and had 66 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 int, 1 TD, 10 passes defensed. He can be useful.

Kyle Van Noy is a superb technician at getting upfield and setting the edge, and holding up at the point of attack. Rugged and smart. That Miami deal he signed made no sense. This signing makes sense.

He’s not really an edge rusher. Popper is wrong in that regards and you’re right that he’s more of a ILB that is good at blitzes. He can maybe fill in as edge in an emergency but not his strong suit.

Added versatility to the D. Staley is gonna be able to throw a lot of confusion at opposing QBs. This is not going to be last years defense.

I sincerely hope not. We had one of the worst defenses in the league last season

He’s a pure hybrid even though we usually think of a OLB as an edge in a traditional 34 defense.

I really like the signing of Van Noy.

Murray in coverage vs. the Raiders in that last game looked totally lost...I like what TT/Staley are doing, bringing in some solid vets along with the young bucks...
