Also we have to also take into account there is a chance that all these starters won't be the unit starting if we make the playoffs... Meaning our depth on the Oline is very important as well.
Add 1 tried and proven OT into this mix and I would feel a little better, but who knows IF Stayley & Co. have the right stuff with their coaching like fans and media are starting to believe, we make the Playoffs in spite of our OL depth and talent. Big ?!
I just am a little cautious on how TT has been scrambling the OG position when he maybe should of been scrambling the OT position! Essentially it feels sort of like by him doing this he is making up and trying to catch up for the Lamp, Martin, IE OG bad pick failures while we are falling farther behind at the OT spot. But fingers crossed, we'll see how this unfolds either way.

This is Staley's team. 2021 FAs Linsley, Feiler, Aboushi/ Schofield, draft Slater were very good choices.
2022 #1 Zion Johnson was Staley. Salyer was a gift.
Coach Staley is building the OL he wants to compete for a championship.
Unfortunately restructuring the defense and STs put a hitch in his getalong re the perfect OL but these were coach Staley's choices.

Staley is just the HC his job is to put the best player on the squad out there to start! Last year Staley had Strom Norton as his best RT, and he believed that was his best option at RT, and that again IE Norton may be the best option based on the inactivity in signing an OT. I am starting to believe that maybe the biggest reason we haven't got things on track has been our GM's logic and his drafting at key positions that needed better personnelLast edited by electricgold; 05-31-2022, 01:06 PM.

I'm saying IF TT makes the right pick IE using the higher draftpicks on Olineman shouldn't guys like Lamp and Feeney, DJ Fluker all still be here instead of all of these high draft picks being busts, as opposed to drafting yet another OG in Zion which leaves a huge hole at OT! TT has a very bad track record with Olineman and LB's.

That’s why your original statement was ridiculous. Staley said that he wanted the best OL, and not be forced to reach for an OT. A lot of our moves in FA and the draft has Staley’s fingerprints on it. If we decided not to go for OT in FA, then it’s on just as much on Staley for choosing to go that route.

Right now we have a great OT and maybe a great OG, We also have a solid center but other than that, we don't look so great. Rewatch the Raider game last year. Hopefully we get some great coaching and the rest of the Oline can become solid, but we are far from that today. IF you think Staley could come into his first HCing job, and after year 1 and no playoffs make the picks you are wrong. Staley did not walk up to TT and say pick Zion, and TT said OK... Its more than likely TT walked up to Staley and said we are picking Zion and Staley agreed that he thought he was the top player on the board.
