Brandon Staley believes Storm and Pip are Quality OT's in the NFL. First off I hope he's right! 2nd Is this a FACT or his opinion? To me it seems like TT & Staley really do believe this is a fact, so we'll see.

IF they are in fact not quality OT's jobs could be lost on this based on being a misinterpretation. I wonder if the Rams or Pats HC would regard Pip & Storm as quality OT's??? One thing that is a fact is they sure are not being paid like they are quality OT's. Fingers crossed they really are???????

Apparently, Ekkie is more impressed with Kelley than Rountree and Spiller:

      Rountree odd man out? https://boltbeat.com/posts/chargers-...-training-camp

Its an opinion - an expert opinion, but none-the-less something that needs to be demonstrated in games before occupying the land of factual.

Even though Josh Kelley might be a great dude, and one of Ek's good buddies: i'm sold!

This is because i'm anticipating a really, really good report about some player and already getting a sugar high just thinking about it.

No, Ekeler isn't going to prop up a 4th round rookie. He's going to make the guy show what kind of baller he is on the field first.

Part of what's interesting about the competition for RB roster spots is that-- aside from Ekeler-- the expectations are very cautious. Returning guys like Kelley, Rountree, and Nabors set the bar pretty low for players like Spiller, Horvath and Leddie Brown.

I'm optimistic, though, that at least ONE of these players is going to impress and have a productive niche in the Bolts' running game.

I'm highly curious about what Zander Horvath can do against NFL competition. If his skill set and game transfer well to the NFL? The Bolts will be able to use the hell out of him as a short yardage specialist and receiver out of the backfield. I'm hoping he's another Tom Rathman (49ers), just waiting to happen. He certainly has similar hands, power, and the ability to defeat the first defender on him.

Aside from Zion, the thing Im loving to see is promising looks from Salyer and Fehoko...nice young talent on the rise, maybe adding a surprising quality of depth in the trenches...

Kelley is interesting...maybe he was embarrassed last year, and got his head right and rededicated himself...Im all for second chances if it means a deep RB corp.

But probably the biggest moment for me, so far, is seeing Mack looking like he is in his prime, and exploding all up in our pro bowl LT's face. Now healthy, he clearly hasnt lost a step...wow.
                Adopted Bolt: Kimani Vidal RB

Final prediction: Latham OT, Colson LB, Sainristil CB,Rice WR, Zinter OG, Nourzad OC, MacLachlan TE, Vidal RB, Lovett DT

Garett Sisti also mentioned how the Charger offense isn't hitting anything deep.....he credited JT Woods for that fact.

Sisti said Woods has impressive range.......tackling of course might be a problem.

I hope they don't throw Mack out there like McCoy/Pags did to Dwight Feeney.

He's an elder guy and I don't want him worn out by the time of the playoffs......same with Bosa.

                    I'd like to see Rumph, Van Noy and even Sir Edmund take a lot of snaps at edge this year;
they'll lose a game that way, but it will be worth it.

Haven't heard anything hyped about Rumph. They'll need Tillery for his versatility.

If Woods doesn't let the receiver catch the ball, he won't HAVE TO tackle! Problem solved! lol

That works if they only play you on 3rd & 8 +, and opposing teams are polite enough not to throw screens your way.

Tony Dungy has a great story about the *moment* he understood that he wasn't going to have a long NFL career.

If I remember correctly, Dungy played QB at University of Minnesota, but was never considered an NFL prospect at QB because of his size. He was signed by the Steelers as an UDFA, and they converted him to safety. Dungy describes being in a game against the Dallas Cowboys, when fullback Robert Newhouse (5-10, 245) took a pitch, rounded the corner and headed straight in Dungy's direction.

Dungy describes the conversation in his head as he prepared to make the tackle-- "Stay square, head up, recoil, explode..."

Newhouse completely trucked him, and left him in a pile on the field. Dungy said, "That's when I realized that perfect technique and form would only take me so far."
