To add a little additional salt, the onside kick actually worked out perfectly for us. The ball was there for the taking. Just laying in the field. And no charger was there to jump on it

No doubt. We had many opportunities to win. But we didn’t. They did and he’s managed to get lucky several times over the years. How many times have you said the Chargers won games they should have lost? It’s far more frequent that the opposite is true. B

The Chargers in the seven games until the rematch with KC only face one playoff team (@SF Nov 13).

The Nov. 20 game against the Chiefs in SoFi will be the game that decides the division. Not last night's game.

There are a lot of positives for the Chargers to take away from last night's game. And some lessons to be learned. For example, being more cognizant when going no-huddle that you might have a player who's too winded, from just having made a play, to continue. Or Herbert recognizing that player is too tired and don't throw the ball to him.

But the defense holding Mahomes to 235 yds and two TDs, while Herbert throwing for 334 yds and 3 TDs is fantastic. There was just that one play that changed the game. A mistake that can be learned from and avoided in the future.

I'm concerned about the injuries to Linsley and Pipkins. We can't keep losing OL. And I'm concerned about Feiler getting abused last night and leaving Herbert vulnerable to getting hit. Zion Johnson is fantastic. He's going right down the path Slater forged last season. I would not be opposed to drafting another 1st round guard with the 32nd pick in the 2023 draft to plug into left guard.

I am also concerned about Josh Palmer. Granted, he scored that TD, good for him. But he does not look like the player we were expecting, the player he was at the end of the year last season. When he played in place of Keenan in a couple of games last season, he was open, Herbert was hitting him for long gains, and he was making plays. But this year, in the preseason he didn't look right. And the first two games of this season he seems to have disappeared. I wonder if there is something going on in his personal life that is distracting him.

Another WR who has disappeared is Jalen Guyton. Herbert is throwing to DeAndre Carter and Gerald Everett and they are making plays. But has Guyton even been targeted?

JC Jackson getting burned by a scrub WR - is it cause for concern? I don't think so. He got turned around and couldn't recover in time. But he has not had any playing time this season yet, so I'll chalk it up to that and expect better things from him going forward.

Overall, I think we're in good shape. We have six consecutive games against non 2021 playoff teams. First up are Jax and Houston. We will rack up wins, players will get healthy, and the issues that have held the team back the first two weeks will be resolved.
No game is a gimme for the chargers. We lost to Houston last year.

Guyton’s disappearance is weird. Palmer is no KA. That leaves us with Everett who is as good as I thought and Carter who may be better. MW came up big for us last night and then they started doubling him. We lack a threat at RB

I’m on board with this. It’s actually the most optimistic I’ve felt after a loss in a while. It was clear who the better team was, even without KA & 2/5 of the OL. Provided everyone gets back healthy, things are looking up. Chiefs may be happy with the W, but I guarantee there is plenty of uneasiness in KC after what transpired last night.

There is positively no excuse for the Pick 6 play.

-Everett could have spoke up in the huddle.
                  -Use a time out.
                  -Herbert could have had awareness.
-Hell Herbert could have made the tackle.
                  -Where was Quality Control ?

Somebody needs to be screaming in Staley's ear that Everett was gassed, since he wasn't realizing the circumstance himself and calling a time out.

Bottom line...this is ultimately on our HC.

With the ebbs and flows of momentum,
the Chargers were about to reaffirm control of the football game.

BTW I will be bent for a long while for the phantom penalty called on Callahan.

A lot of close games between the Chargers and Chiefs have not gone our way, for whatever reasons, and we must change that.

Funny. When Fluker body slammed the Raider DE he was penalized. So now it’s within the rules? Not that I mind, it was the best play of the game.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                    Let’s win one for Mack.

End of 2nd Q, nothing. Start of 3rd Q, nothing.

There’s the knockout punch that was never thrown.

Some people have been praising Murray for improved play, but I still think the dude whiffs too much trying to tackle. He either tackles too high and whiffs, or on the rare occasions when he goes low, he fails to wrap up. For example, on that big gainer by Edwards-Helaire, K9 (yellow) is in perfect position to make the tackle short of the first down marker:

Agreed. It’s amazing that he still comes in so dang high after 3 years in the league - I think I may use film of K9 to coach the kids on our team on what NOT to do.
